Lee Hsien Loong's stellar military career

All his badges and field medals pinned on his uniform remind me of those chaps who wore military uniforms and played musical instruments at Chinese funerals.

being a General very Tua Kee meh?

Hitler only a lousy corporal.
Graddifi remain a colonel even after sizing power.
many africa dictators were just majors or colonel before they start a coup.

if pinkie had remain a Colonel all this while, most of the ppl would not had make fun of his military career. it no shame to retired as a colonel, especially he only in his early 30s. It a mistake, as he will forever known to be a general because his old man is LKY.

Wa, you so evil.:D Maybe he is reserving those stuff for that very day.

I have to correct your wrong facts

It as our own RSAF SAR team, Flying Bell 212
The Aust Pilot is on attachment with our SAR team and we have more then capable pilots to take on the mission

It is the stupid Base Commander of SBAB at that time that insist ang moh is better.
He got less night flying hours in Bell 212 but still chosen to go, A very experience pilot is assigned to fly as his co pilot.
so this Ang moh Tua ki mindset is already entrenched way back then.

The decision maker wasted precious time and day light while mooting on the idea of having commandos climb on the cable, over the stuck cable car and climb into the cabin, finally they activate the heli, which makes it so much more difficult to hover at that height with little reference at night

So if screw up can blame the ang mor mah.....

Old man wanted his son to be the emperor. Many generals in the past usurped thrones for their own selfish plans. This included Yuan.

cannot seem to find the picture of his germany faux pas , marching on on his own and failed to bow to germany flag...

He is a prince, prince don't bow to another country's national's flag, so nothing wrong.

I would be keen to find out LHL's history of appointments during his SAF stint.

Has he served a tour as a Platoon Commander or even OC?

Or was he doing admin/staff work all the way, perhaps with a short stint as a battalion or brigade commander?

Real SAF officers all have to do a PC and OC tour, sometimes lasting for up to two years.

my company scholar captain served on 5-6 months PC tour. even then, his salary more than OC who also a captain. both idiots dumped their payslip in their wastepaper basket.

This thread is perfectly fine for discussion, but the word "stellar" made my toes laugh.

Go check ST archives http://newspapers.nl.sg/ and enter his name. Some articles in the past about exactly when he was promoted.

Probably the ONLY Brigadier General of ANY Military not to have seen combat.

Makes a mockery of the title itself.

Rear Admiral is higher than Commodore. This means Teo CH is higher than BG LHL.

The SAF does not use the traditional British or Canadian ranks for Navy officers, which is navy Lieutenant = army CPT, navy Lieutenant Commander = MAJ, navy Commander = LTC, navy Captain = COL, navy Commodore = BG, navy Rear Admiral = MG, navy Vice Admiral = LG, navy Admiral = General.

I believe that the RSN (SAF) uses the same ranks for army and navy officers from 2LT to COL, but uses a Rear Adminral (one star) and a Rear Admiral (2 stars).

Teo Chee Hean was def one-star. Promoted in the same year as he resigned.

I am quite certain they promoted him even though they knew it would be his last promotion in the SAF. Was promoted to enhance his CV for the voters.
