You imagine he imagined it to be "over in a week or 10 days". Many posters here in sammyboy seem to have exceptional psychic abilities. Many also seem to know Putin as they know the back of their hands - how he feels now, what he's thinking and his strategy in fighting this military operation. IMUHO, the only thing I dare say about Putin and his advisers are that they may not be stupid.

IMUHO, this is my view: Putin has no intention to occupy Ukraine (as he had said); occupation would be suicide for Russia. He only wants to create two new nations to join the UN and to dictate their borders. After winning this operation and making sure the Ukrainian military is destroyed, Putin will pull back all his troops. He wants to only ensure that the sovereignty of the two new nations are safe and protected. When things are settled, there is nothing NATO could do just as with Crimea.

Your story is very intriguing. Why would he risks putting his country going into a deep recession with all the sanctions? Why would he wants to waste US$15bn per day of war when he could be able to occupy Donbas and Luhansk with much less fighting and won easily, like what he had done with his present occupied territories in Georgia?

Hoping that NATO will end their bullying ways is a waste of time. They will try whatever has worked for them in the past. Like I said. Today, we have tools at our disposal that were not available ten or twenty years ago. Use them.

Right now NATO is not in Russian or Ukrainian territory. Whatever drove Putin there, he should back out. If Putin decides to back out, then he's all clear to declare that NATO baited and/or created this mess. And from my point of view, it he does so, the whole world will sit up and pay attention. There will never be a better opportunity to expose NATO.
