With the popularity of restaurants like Din Tai Fung, it’s no secret that a way to a foodie’s heart lies in juicy Xiao Long Baos (XLB) and springy handmade La Mian. The various dumplings at Shang Hai La Mian Xiao Long Bao are all best-sellers, with their chewy skin and generous filling. Also, they all go for an amazing price, with XLBs going for $6/10 pieces and their famous Sichuan Spicy Dumplings going at $4.50/10 pieces. Where else can you find such a great deal for quality, handmade dumplings?

For a more filling meal, try their hand-pulled noodles, which are served with different cooking styles such as in Zha Jiang Mian and Dan Dan Mian.

4. Tai Liok Claypot Chicken Rice

One of the most popular dishes among locals is Claypot Chicken Rice, and it’s not hard to see why. Famous for their generous portions of lup cheong and chicken cubes, Tai Liok Claypot Chicken Rice is one of THE places to go to try this local delicacy. Their rice is moist and fluffy, without being too dry like most other claypot dishes. The dark soya sauce and sesame oil also provide a nice accompaniment to the salted fish in the dish. Queues can get really long, especially since the dish is made from scratch in the claypot, so consider calling ahead to avoid long waiting times!

Don’t want to wait in line for Hawker Chan? Xiang Jiang Soya Sauce Chicken is an alternative that is just as good, if not better, than the famed Michelin-Starred hawker stall. Get your chicken with either rice or a selection of different noodle types. We recommend pairing the flavourful chicken with a plate of dry egg noodles, which soak up the special soya sauce and chilli mixture well. This provides the perfect accompaniment to the tender, moist chicken meat.

Additionally, a whole plate of delicious chicken-and-noodle goodness will only cost you $3.50. That’s an amazing steal, considering the quality and flavour of the dish!

Unit Number: #01-77

Opening Hours: 7am – 2pm (Mon, Wed – Sun)
