You are confusing what is in the books and what is being practised by individuals contrary to the books.
Don't blame the religion for it.

Your comment regarding Christianity is totally off the tangent.
The word Jihad is mentioned 41 times in Meccan Koran text, 12 times jihad is linked to war.

However, most of them make it a point to put on the floral tudungs, wear make up and lipstick to make themselves "attractive".

I find it now very funny that the muslim nurses insist that they can put on tudung.

Can we also then insist that they don't wear make up and lipstick to be consistent with the principles behind the modesty factor?

And only Islam makes sense, consistent, has unadulterated documents that predicted miracles to audiences far into the future, espouses values that are reasonable, and when you study it with sincerity to know the truth, you cannot escape but accept it.

Islam demands we treat all forms of life with fairness, mercy and compassion. Including pigs. Including trees. All life. Even the environment. Have you heard of what the prophet said about wasting water? He said (I paraphrase) Do not waste or take more than necessary the water even if it is from a flowing river.
Allah has put us on earth as custodians of this planet. With that he has allowed us to use and consume as necessary for our existence.
So amongst animals, they have their own uses for us. Chickens and cows for food, etc.
Dogs has its utility in a muslim home. It is used for hunting, for guarding property and family. And just like any animals should be kept out of the home where we would want it to be clean for our habitation. You are allowed to handle and touch a dog when necessary and do the necessary cleaning after. But not to be fondled, carressed, snuggled. Dogs has its rights. It has to be fed, and watered and treated with respect and care. And in our urban society, we do not have the need in flats or homes to own animals unlike in the past where we live in nature or farms.

No, this is not sensible, in fact this sounds selfish. As if dogs are dirty, dogs are to be kept outside the house (only to be used for hunting, guarding property)? And yet, you wrote ‘family’ in your statement.

Now about those news reports....Fact is were there anyone killed for apostasy in Malaysia? Answer is no. Because to be killed for apostasy, there are many stringent conditions to be met, which under current times does not fulfil it.
So when you want to learn about Islam is is not through the headline news but go to learned scholars that can help you drill down into the details. There you will find clarity.

So why do so many muslim families keep cats @home? Isn't it supposed to be equal treatment for all animals? As u know, dogs are loving animals, have u patted a dog before?
Let's say if u live in a landed property in SG or Boleh land, assuming the dog does not enter your home as you're living in a landed property. Will u keep dogs as pets to guard your home n family (more so in Boleh land as there're many home robberies) ?

I think there is an unverified story of the prophet keeping a cat. I said unverified. So these ppl take it without investigating. What did I say about Islam being about seeking knowledge and not assuming. These people assumed.
And yes you are allowed to keep dogs in yr compound and provide a kennel for it. Minimize interaction but treat it humanely.
But these days, electronics maybe do a better job.
