Gardens By The Bay

i didnt feel proud visiting GBTB...i can get for free in other countries what i got from Flower Dome

Datin, agree.

When the flowers are at full bloom in the open fields in Holland and Belgium, the spectacle is magnificent, if I may say.

casinos bring in good revenue to the govt but are killing singaporeans slowly

Using the casinos to kill off the useless 2nd and 3rd generations of wealthy tycoons is not a bad idea. A form of socialism/redistribution.

but those killed are often the average worker..they end up in debt and their families suffer

collateral damage. Anyway the lives of gambling addicts, poor or rich, are worthless. They can't blame the govt for lack of self control.

no need to apportion blame. suffice to say the casinos are killing many people and destroying many families..many children from these families will grow up as disfunctional adults.

whose fault is not the issue. the issue is it bodes ill for Singapore in the future

you are spot on Tracy! the average guy will be slaughtered! the rich and wealthy , they can afford to lose and they can still have plenty in store.

absolutely true! if they can't cope, they jump from the endless sea or drown in bedok....

the problem with casinos is not that the high rollers lose..the casinos need a critical mass to keep them going and it is these critical mass, the ordinary people, who have to work and cant afford to lose their hard earned money. these are the victims of casinos.

that's why suicide has gone up in SG. but it is the children whom they leave behind who will be disadvantaged and who will grow up to be problem people

the other option is to BAN SINGAPOREANS from entering the casion...some large companies have banned their own workers, esp those foreign workers from entering the casino. i think the problem has improved now . when the casino was first opened, i think many uncles and aunties "died"! some survied and learnt their lessons. the initial euphoria gave way to despondency and depression.

gambling is an addiction. i know because i nearly died too.

that's a good suggestion.

but as i mentioned, the casinos need a critical mass ..they need the housewives to lose $100 here, $100 there...so they will pressure the pap to not ban singaporeans from gg to casinos.

i believe more than 70% of the gam, blers are singaporeans.

many countries prohiblt their citizens to go into the casinos. but will pap do it?

Bulk of annual cost is for maintaining those 2 giant sized air-con glasshouses. Maybe the old man wants to use the taller glasshouse as his mausoleum, and the smaller one reserved for the son. This will show China whose the real boss.

Discovery Channel got an episode on GBTB. Ma BT boasted on the program that he was the key leader behind this project. Can spend over a billion dollars to build a garden, instead of building sufficient flats. Not surprisingly, a lot of money went to angmoh architects.

Look Ma, any jackass can spent a billion $, but try earning a billion $, ....not so easy.

true...taxing citizens to get billions through levies, GST, COEs, ERPs, etc is easy and spending them is easy too..but the pap shd open their eyes and see what they are doing to Singapore and the misery they are causing to singaporeans.

it's the basic question...is the S$1B worth it?

Lady, I can see you are not happy with the cost of GBTB said to be at $1B. Now go back to 2008/2009 when our GIC and Temasek sank about 20Billion or more in those European Investments which old man consoled us as meant for long long term investments for the benefit of our children. If you think about it you will appreciate that at least that $1B for GBTB is money well spent for the citizens can smell the flowers whilst the former we can just dream about it. So you still believe that long long term investment is still there for our children? Now between the two which would you prefer? The long long term investments which we do not know is still there or not or the $1B white elephant that at least you can smell the flower? As for me, bo pian, I will settle for the latter. How about you? :)

the $20B invested in 2008 is almost gone..just like the Suzhou project...they are getting away with many bad decisions

this $1B GBTB isnt worth that much and my point is how much went into the pockets of GLCs and TLCs to beef up their coffers.

if we dont start asking questions, more of the tax payers' money will be squandered away

Tracy, do you think those "decision-makers" have a heart?

Cheers!

if you read my posts, you will know that i believe the pap is a disaster for SG. the sooner the pap gets voted out, the better it is for Singapore and Singaporeans. SG will crumble under PAP's mismanagement
