I heard that in their earlier days, the Singapore Air Force welcomed other foreign air forces to fly, audit and critique them.. They truly wanted to improve themselves and were not afraid to hear the truth..that's the way a good organisation shd behave...not shield themselves from other professional views. If these views help to make the organisation better, esp in the case of justice, why not? Does our Judiciary subscribe to that?

The report was published in newspaper. TLH didn't make a report against GCT. He made a report claiming that he was followed and fear for life, suspecting some people wanted to murder or kidnap him because GCT alleged that he was a Chinese chauvinist. The way he and JBJ announced to the rally crowd, it was as if GCT hired people to do that. I was at the rally. I was even at the trial.

hahahaha..he is paid $3+m a yr to smile and shake hands...he better do it well. it's his job. by smiling and waving his hand need not necessarily make SRN a happy man and doesnt mean he is happy. looks are deceiving.

If a Judiciary overturn serves justice better, no one shd be afraid, except maybe the judge who gave the wrong ruling...a lost of face..but let him and others learn from his mistake

The air force in early days, starting from scratch, of course has to rely on foreign expertise. Same for the judiciary in early days, relying on a lot of English laws and case precedents and had PC as the highest court of appeal. The reasons given for abolishing PC as the highest court of appeal were that Singapore has already been independent for many years and even many Commonwealth countries have abolished it, and that law lords so far away in England couldn't be in touch with Singapore social and legal developments unlike in olden days when Singapore was a colony.

These were good arguments for other Commonwealth countries except Singapore's judiciary and legislature are both one-party dominated. Removing PC would mean total partisan domination without reprieve. Personally, I'd like to keep PC until there's a more balanced political culture.
