Others: Somehere in between.

Me: I'm not really interested in gambling but I don't mind having turf clubs, lotteries and casinos for those who like it, can afford it and can handle it. The question is what about those who can't and fell into it abysmally causing personal, family and social problems? The government should be prepared for it. It's their duty.

I am for Singaporeans having choices. But the pap is giving casino choices because the more people go to casino, the better it is for the pap..

why doesnt the pap give singaporeans real choices to select their President or their MPs? why put obstacles in this area and hinder their choices?

Yes, the casinos are generating free profits for government coffers. S$100 per day from ocassional visitors and S$2,000 per year from regulars who decide to pay the membership fees.

The presidency has become a joke, elect or not also no power, just ceremonial and symbolic. The whole elected presidency saga was another LKY miscalculation when OTC actually tried to exercise presidential power.

There was a TV debate over it with LHL, LTK etc. But of course, whatever argument was presented and debated over, PAP passed the Constitutional Amendment. As for enough opposition MPs to stop PAP passing such things, it's still up to opposition candidates and voters. First, are there enough candidates to stand, then, are the voters willing to vote for them.

Yes, the presidency is a joke...

I see SRN so often at east coast and he looks so down and out.

LKY miscalculated and this Elected Presidency is turning out to be a big albatross around the pap's neck

those are pittance.

the real revenue is the huge tax on gambling winnings for the casinos and the foreign workers levies since the casino employs a lot of cheap foreign workers

Have singaporeans asked why there are so few and quality opposition candidates?

the better ones were unjustifiablly hounded, persecuted, bankrupted, disqualified, etc by the pap.

I don't see CST and LTK being hounded, persecuted, bankrupted, disqualified etc., not even LHD and CCC who lost back their seats.

JBJ was good but he got carried away with his success and reputation that followed the success. FS and TLH were good too but were too impatient and got carried away even without actually hitting success yet.

CSJ, I don't know what to say. There's no way to be an MP by getting oneself disqualified. In any case, from a democratic point of view (i.e. voters' support), CSJ record was about 24% in Marine Parade 1991, 33% in MacPherson 1997 and 20% in Jurong 2001 (i.i.r.c.) If you believe in democracy, you have to accept the voting decision of the majority.

If you believe in law and order, you can't blame PAP leaders for suing them. For if people said slanderous things about me, I'd sue them too.

What did JBJ got carried away with?

Why were FS and TLH impatien? What were they carried away with?

What you said were what the media journalists said

The JBJ case overturned by PC wasn't defamation. It was party account irregularity. Yes, in that case, I do agree, it was unfair on JBJ. As for defamation cases, here are some examples.

TLH: I feel my life's in danger. There're people following and coming after me.
JBJ: TLH has just made a police report against GCT.

CSJ: "The government loaned ## billions to Suharto (already diposed) ... come here Mr. Goh, where's the money?"
