This whole England Penalty fiasco is blamed directly on Gareth Southgate. I can't believe that when you are coaching at this level, you did not have designated penalty takers and even worse, you did not practice the squad on penalty taking. Apparently, when it was going into penalties, he asked for volunteers to take them. Are u fucking kidding me? Volunteers? He should have found out in his squad who the good penalty takers are. Harry Kane is automatic. Jack Grealish as an experienced EPL player and Captain of Aston Villa asked to be one of the penalty takers and Southgate said no. The immense pressure was obviously too much on the young players like Saka and Sancho. Henderson, Stones and Trippier should have been taking the penalties.
