When STOMPer Kevin called to report an errant cabby, he was shocked to discover that the vehicle number did not exist in ComfortDelGro's records.

The STOMPer wonders if it could be an illegal taxi. He says:

"This taxi does not exist.

"The driver of this taxi overtook my car in a dangerous manner.

"Fortunately, I caught up with him at the next traffic light and took this photo to report him.

"When I called Comfort to report the driver, the customer service operator said this taxi plate number did not exist on their records!

"Do we have illegal taxis operating on the roads of Singapore?"

PRC taxi driver.... Probably replicated the look of comfort cabs right down to the correct shade of blue.

Bros & Sis ,

we know there are " ghost writers " available to

write books and course papers ...

has anyone here encounter "ghost taxi drivers " ... ???

i mean ordinary drivers who moonlight as "legal" taxi driver

plus having in his possession the "real " driver IDs

just in case kena involve in accident or spot check

by traffic police ..:(:(:(

Mdm. Tang, tell you a funny story from about 10 years ago.

My bro have a cabbie friend. That night, they went binging as the cabbie friend lost in horse races and no mood to work. No mood easy to get drunk and he was drunk indeed. My bro (no cab licence) drove his cab to send him home. Then drove his cab back to his own home (i.e. my home, he stayed with me then). On the way, got people hail at him, he actually stopped and picked up the passenger and sent to somewhere in Yishun, collected about $20 fare (including midnight charge) before turning back to TPY. :D

.

heng ahh... lucky yr bro did not encounter police road-blocked

or spot checks... some smart chaps even got "real driver"

IDs ready...

tell you a story that happened at Bukit Timah Turf club

many many years ago , one trainer actually used

a higher classified horse , similar in looks and size

of a lower class horse , to run in a lower

class race . and of course that superior horse won .

that arrangement almost gone undetected if not

for a alert clerk ... :D:D:D

It was a 7th month vehicle that was late when the gates were closed to hell. So, it is still on our roads and have to wait for 2011's 7th month.

report cover up by Comfort operator ....;)

This is true...let me share what happen on that day..wow tat was in the early 80s i was just a teenager waiting for my enlistment in the army,
that horse was train by a local trainer late allan yap pow leng..the horse that he beat was train by the the late ivan allan and co own by the late ew barker,
ivan allan was so confident of his horse winning and he had a big bet on it,he cant believe it when his horse lost to a donkey, knowing both ivan and ew barker personally, ivan the genius that he really is went down to the paddock and look at the horse that beat his and true enough he saw a different brand number on the winning horse and went to the steward room and raise an objection..the cheat was found out and objection upheld,an inquiry was held and the cheating trainer was fine and banned from the turf club.
the old bukit timah turf club indeed holds alot of memories, those were the days.

so far i never seen police stopping taxi drivers on roadblocks.

Well we've stopped many before, especially past midnight for cabs single or all-male passengers for a quick check. As far as possible though, try not to if there's nothing looking suspicious as during the stop, the meter is running and the passengers would have to pay for it. But you're right, it's a matter of policy not to stop cabs without passengers, except in extraordinary cases when the cabbie is driving erratically.

why stop the cab with male passengers? Even if they are drunk it's okay since they are passengers.

Btw you mean the meter has to be running when stopped?
