Lau Goh: "chowcheebye if got no $12.80 rice then i worry"
I had lunch yesterday at T1 staff canteen. Went for the nasi briyani with the price stated at $5. After one of the stall helper chopped the fried chicken, he asked me what vegetable dish i want. I was startled at first as I thought nasi briyani doesn't come with vegetables but then i thought it was part of the nasi briyani meal @ $5. So I chose the long bean and after that he proceed to hand me one packet of papadum (3 pieces inside). When I handed over a $10 note for payment, the change that came back to me was $3.40. I then asked the other cashier isn't $5 the cost of the nasi briyani? She then replied that the vegetable dish cost 80 cents while the papadum was also 80 cents.
So in the end, the nasi briyani cost me $6.60 versus the $5 that I had expected.
Maybe I am naive but it is not so much about the additional 80 cents each for the vegetable and papadum that I had to pay but more about the 'hidden' cost which, to me, stall holders seem to deliberately withhold from informing customers.
Rather sinkies deserve this shit for voting and keeping pap in power.
No complaints please....suffer all you gong cheebyes.
Good start to a Sunday morning hearing sinkies suffering....
Don't think the vendors can help it. Costs are pretty high for them. They are giving you a choice of a $5 meal or a $6.60 meal.
Noodles = $3.00
Egg = $2.00
Chicken = $3.00
Another kind of meat = $2.80
Vegetables = $2
Final Cheating Tally = $12.80
Yes. I know rental costs are high for hawkers. I was displeased not with the $6.60 that I paid but at the 'hidden costs' which was not disclosed to me when I made the order. It was clearly stated on the price list that the nasi briyani costs $5 and not $6.60. My previous experience eating nasi briyani is that the papadum is included in the total cost of the nasi briyani and yesterday was the first time that I had to pay extra for the papadum.

Guess you're right. But can you imagine walking up to the stall and finding out your favourite Nasi Briyani is now 6.60. You might just walk away in disgust. The vendor has to find a way to break it to you gently. Blame the real culprits. You know who they are.
if the guy already put the food on the rice
How come nobody here yet to ask Kelvin the golden question yet?
He could have eaten soursop before he left the house. Then he won't need to go foodcourt.
actually this is call inflation, it is part of your country economic system, call capitalism. therefore regardless of which political party, capitalism and inflation flow constantly.

$12.80 for economic rice in a food court setting is called inflation? Maybe u will consider $700,000 for public housing as 'market adjustment'
Still not expensive compare to this$12.8
