East Coast Plan unveiled

HSK experienced an impressive performance.

Experienced an impressive performance by Mikkel Myer Lee, Singapore’s piano prodigy, recently. At just 12, he is the youngest musician ever to take on the monumental challenge of performing Beethoven’s complete 32 piano sonatas over eight concerts!
The first instalment of this series was a joy — Mikkel’s artistry and depth truly brought Beethoven’s music to life. From international competition wins to performances at renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, Mikkel’s journey continues to make Singapore proud. He has performed in the UK and is set to take the stage in Amsterdam in April 2025.
Thanks to the organisers Foundation for The Arts and Social Enterprise and School of the Arts, Singapore; and sponsors Mr Oei Hong Leong, TungLok Group and PuTien, for supporting Mikkel on his incredible musical journey.
Let us continue to support every Singaporean as they pursue excellence in varying fields including academic, arts and sports.
Kudos to Mikkel — we’ll be cheering you on as you shine on the world stage!

Congratulations to all students who received your N Level results today!
Education is about growth, resilience, and the determination to keep going. You have come a long way so take some time to celebrate your achievements. Continue to stay focused, stay curious and keep learning for there are many different pathways ahead.
Students can consult parents, teachers, counsellors at schools or at MOE’s ECG (Education and Career Guidance) Centre for advice on planning your next steps towards your aspirations.
My best wishes to all of you, and have a well-deserved break during the holidays before a new chapter begins!

Calling all young East Coast students in our Institutes of Higher Learning (ITE, Poly, University) — want to do something meaningful and get a new experience during your break between school terms?
Come join our East Coast Internship Programme!
You will gain hands-on experience, interact with industry experts and community leaders, and be exposed to a vibrant environment where you can contribute and bring your ideas to life.
For example, the previous batch of interns put together the East Coast Health Quest — a popular event among residents that has helped them keep active and fit! Earlier batches also started “Bedok Brain Gym” to help tutor primary school students and a “Cat Therapy” session for seniors, on top of many other programmes by our interns to bring the community together.
You can choose one of two tracks:
● Community Immersion — Dive into grassroots work and come up with new ideas or projects to interact with and support People's Association and residents in various activities;
● Corporate Exposure — Work with our industry partners in the corporate world (APRW, Azbil, Oona Insurance, TiE Singapore) and build up valuable skillsets and networks.
Applications are now open till 6 January 2025. Visit this link to sign up: go.gov.sg/internwitheastcoast

I had a holly jolly time celebrating with residents at our Christmas Carnival at Bedok CC. We enjoyed festive activities, fun games, carnival treats, and joyful carolling.
My thanks to our Bedok Youth Network and Bedok volunteers for organising this event to bring our #VibrantEastCoast community closer together.
Wishing everyone a happy and meaningful festive season. May you cherish precious moments with loved ones over the holidays!

Life is better with good friendships and even better conversations!
Joined this group of friends who meet every morning at the Blk 16 Bedok South market for kopi and breakfast. It’s inspiring to see how such regular gatherings strengthen friendships and foster a sense of neighbourliness in the community. It was also great to catch up with our stallholders, many of whom have themselves become friends with our residents over the years.
This strong sense of community where we all look out for one another is what makes Bedok a special place to live in!

HSK reflected on 2024.

28 December at 17:08 · Singapore ·
I was at East Coast Park earlier this month and took a moment to reflect on events in 2024. The world is becoming more contested and uncertain. Conflicts in Europe and the Middle East continue. Economic and technological competition is intensifying, and supply chains face disruptions. The effects of these are felt around the world, with rising prices for many goods and services.
We in Singapore are not immune from these challenges. What is reassuring is that we are working together — government, businesses and unions, to navigate these challenges. At the same time, efforts to build a better future continue, including upskilling, adopting technology and transforming our economy.
In many ways, inspiring individuals are striving to improve their lives, support their families, and contribute to society through acts like donating and volunteering to help others.
Our East Coast community remains committed to supporting residents through initiatives like subsidised groceries and fostering inter-generational engagement and support. I am glad to see the CDC Vouchers being well-utilised. Many of our residents, hawkers, and volunteers have also touched lives with their generosity and kindness. I’ve met many East Coast residents striving to help others — some of whom we recognised through a Good Neighbours’ Award in Bedok. It is heartening to see such acts of kindness.
I am grateful for the journey we’ve shared and I look forward to what’s ahead in 2025.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and restful year-end!

HSK looks forward to year-long SG60 programmes and celebrations.

2025 marks #SG60 — the 60th year of Singapore’s independence.
Our shared values of multiculturalism, resilience and openness have ensured that we remain united as one people to overcome the odds time and again and build a successful and prosperous nation where current and future generations can thrive.
This video, commissioned by Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), showcases this spirit of Singapore that is the foundation of our nation-building journey. The renewed sense of partnership and care for all will push us forward as we continue the never-ending work of building a better home.
Singaporeans and all friends of Singapore can look forward to our year-long SG60 programmes and celebrations. You can find out more at sg60.gov.sg.

HSK looks forward to using his CDC Vouchers.

We have just rolled out the latest tranche of CDC Vouchers!
Since 2020, the CDC vouchers have helped families manage the cost of living as well as support local businesses. With this latest disbursement of $300 in vouchers per Singaporean household, the Government continues to support our people in tiding through a period of high inflation in this challenging global environment.
You can use these vouchers at participating markets, hawker centres, and supermarkets — just look for the CDC voucher decals displayed at stalls. More than 23,000 heartland merchants and hawkers are part of the scheme, so there are many meaningful ways to use them with your family!
You can claim your vouchers here: https://go.gov.sg/cdcv, and support our heartland shops and hawkers!

HSK was happy to meet Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Happy to meet Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand yesterday, at the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) 2025.
Princess Sirindhorn has a strong passion for learning and a keen interest in science and technology. We appreciate her support for the GYSS since the beginning, and I am happy to welcome her back for this year’s edition.
During our meeting, Princess Sirindhorn and I discussed the strong and multi-faceted partnership between our countries.
In particular, we discussed how we could use science and technologies to improve lives for our peoples, including through FinTech and e-commerce, and to tackle global challenges like climate change and pandemics.
As Singapore and Thailand celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, I look forward to continued exchanges between our scientists, and collaboration to innovate and enhance our countries’ economic, business, and R&D sectors.
