HSK called on Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Called on Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh this evening. We reaffirmed our countries’ commitment to further deepen cooperation to the betterment of our peoples and the region, including in digital, green and innovation.
Also called on Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and Standing Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee Vo Van Thuong earlier in the day.
With a young population and an abundance of renewable energy sources and other resources, the potential for Vietnam to grow and for us to work together is vast.
As we look forward to 50 years of bilateral relations next year, I am confident that our partnership will grow from strength to strength.

HSK glad to be in Ho Chi Minh City.

Xin Chào, from Ho Chi Minh City! Glad to be here again since my last visit more than a decade ago.
I was involved in the very first Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in Binh Duong province during my days in the Ministry of Trade & Industry in the early 2000s.
Good to see how this initiative has now grown into ten parks. The latest VSIP, also in Binh Duong, is twice as big and when completed, will be much smarter, greener, and innovative.
The evolution of VSIP is also reflective of Vietnam’s growth in the past few decades. Am glad that Singapore and our enterprises had the opportunity to make a contribution.
May this partnership continue to grow from strength to strength.

Taking a look at the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) models. Sembcorp Development is the co-master developer of the VSIP projects and the upcoming 1,000-hectare VSIP Binh Duong III is the latest exciting expansion.

HSK had Vietnamese drip coffee.

Had my last Vietnamese drip coffee before taking my flight back to Singapore. The north is known for its egg coffee, while drip coffee is common throughout the country. Vietnamese coffee packs a strong punch, so I had to ration how much I drink.
Wrapped up the trip with calls on HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen and Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee for HCMC Phan Van Mai.
I thanked both of them for their continued support to Singapore and our companies. We agreed to step up cooperation between our two cities.
I look forward to further partnerships that will play to each other’s strengths.
Looking forward to coming home!

Trade links between China and Southeast Asia go back many centuries.
While it started as barter trade, these linkages have thickened and evolved over time. Today, ASEAN and China are each other’s top trading partner.
We are in a time of great uncertainty in global history. Peoples are facing a diverse range of challenges and preoccupations, within each country and across the world.
We need more platforms to strengthen cooperation and channel our energies towards constructive relations and partnerships. The China-ASEAN Expo is one such platform.
Gave a virtual address at the opening ceremony of the China ASEAN Expo held at Nanning, Guangxi this morning.
Spoke about how we can strengthen regional connectivity, and build the future economy through digital and green.

Glad to see that preparations for Deepavali are in full swing, now that we have learnt to live with COVID-19.
Joined the Little India Shopkeepers & Heritage Association LiSHA, Minister Indranee Rajah and Mayor Denise Phua Lay Peng yesterday for the Deepavali light up.
In Singapore, Deepavali is not just a celebration by our Indian community. It is an occasion for neighbours and friends from across all races and nationalities to come together as a community to celebrate our diversity and unique identity. I hope that Singaporeans can continue to appreciate and understand different cultures, so as to connect with people from around the world.
The Deepavali light up at Little India is a tradition that has gone on for nearly thirty-five years. This is possible because of the generous contributions of the many volunteers, residents, partners, and sponsors.
May this tradition continue on for many more years!

Just as Deepavali signifies the triumph of light over darkness, let us all celebrate our own battle against the dark and difficult time during the pandemic.

The Deepavali light-up at Little India is a tradition that has gone on for nearly 35 years. This year’s lights were designed according to song and dance motifs. Very beautiful!
