The Deepavali light-up at Little India is a tradition that has gone on for nearly 35 years. This year’s lights were designed according to song and dance motifs. Very beautiful!

Today is International Coastal Clean Up Day!
The East Coast team came together with our South East Family and residents for a district-wide clean-up effort at East Coast Park and other green activities this morning! We picked up plenty of plastic waste, which will be passed to The Re-Purpose Collective to be upcycled. We also had community partners, Just Keep Thinking and Marine Stewards, share more about their sustainability efforts.
Keeping our spaces clean and green is a community effort, so let us all do our part! A big thank you to everyone — NParks, South East CDC - Your Social Broker, East Coast Buzz, Marine Parade Cluster, our residents, partners and volunteers — involved in today’s activities!

A promise made to a young boy with cancer sparked the creation of Arc Children's Centre more than a decade ago by Ronita and Geraldine. His last wish was to have a safe and welcoming place for children like him to have a normal life of learning and playing.
From the seed of that one promise, Arc has blossomed over the years. As a daycare centre for children with cancer and other life-threatening conditions, it has served as a sanctuary and pillar of support for over 200 families. I was at their charity gala lunch this afternoon and was moved by the passion and dedication of the staff and volunteers. The Arc team spoke of their immense joy when children under their care recover and resume normal lives. Parents also told me that Arc’s support meant so much to them on this difficult journey.
I’m confident that Ronita, Geraldine, and the Arc team will continue to help build a caring and inclusive Singapore, one child at a time. A big thank you to those who have supported them. If you are able to, do consider contributing to this worthy cause: www.giving.sg/arc-children-s-centre-co-ltd.

The state funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will take place later this evening.
Her Majesty’s passing is mourned by many, including here in Singapore. As a mark of respect, Singapore flags at all government buildings will be flown at half-mast today.
I penned my condolences at the British High Commission last week.
May she rest in peace.

HSK met several Vietnamese youths at BLOCK71 Saigon, some of whom had either studied or spent time in Singapore.

I am always inspired by people who not only come up with good ideas, but also work hard to make their ideas come alive.
In my recent trip, I met several Vietnamese youths at BLOCK71 Saigon, some of whom had either studied or spent time in Singapore. Some of them have started companies together with their Singaporean classmates when they were studying here. Wonderful to see how they are all involved in Vietnam’s tech start-up scene, from robotics to finance. If youths from Singapore and Vietnam can work even more closely together, we can achieve more.
The same goes for our companies. Earlier in Hanoi, I visited a collaboration between Singapore’s NCS Group and Vietnam’s FPT Corporation. Both companies are working closely to meet the growing demand for IT services in the region.
I strongly encourage youths and companies from both countries to explore new partnerships and opportunities as we venture into a smarter and greener future!

Looking through the "Fun learning to program with G-Robot Creator" book by Garastem.

The book guides students through how to self-assemble and program the GaraSTEM G-Robot Creator. It covers basic to advanced levels.

The GaraSTEM start-up is essentially an ecosystem of STEM education for both teachers and students to learn electronics and robotics. Hope to see more students taking up STEM subjects!

HSK gives a scary statistic. :cautious:

1 in 10 people above 60 has dementia, of which Alzheimer’s is a leading cause.
This is a scary statistic as our population ages rapidly.
Despite significant investments in R&D, a cure for Alzheimer’s and dementia remains elusive. Though there are promising candidates on the horizon.
Today on World Alzheimer’s Day, we can commit to do more.
Bedok is one of the 15 Dementia-Friendly Communities in Singapore. These signs, which help residents with dementia find their way around the blocks, is one such way we can help support people with dementia in their daily lives.
We can also do more to reduce the risk of dementia, by maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, and to support caregivers, many of whom walk alongside dementia patients for years, if not decades.
You can learn more about dementia here: www.DementiaHub.sg.
