With siblings Katelynn, Alena and Eliza (left)! Katelynn told me that her wish is for Singapore to be “stronger and stronger”. I’m sure that together we can make her wish come true!

Also met Hazel, who is a Tampines resident and a teacher at St. Hilda’s Primary School. As for Alexander, he is currently a researcher at A*STAR. He shared with me that I had presented him an A*STAR scholarship back in 2015 when I was Education Minister. What a coincidence!

Like the lyrics in this year’s National Day song, we are definitely Stronger Together.
Glad to have our National Day observance ceremonies back in full swing this year. Joined President Halimah Yacob, PM Lee Hsien Loong, DPM Lawrence Wong, as well as PMO officers at the Istana, and later on colleagues at the Treasury to commemorate this important occasion together.
The past two years were unprecedented, and the entire Public Service was mobilised in the fight against COVID-19. To be able to gather again for National Day songs is especially meaningful. We are in a much better place now, but the pandemic is not over.
So let us continue to stay united, keep vigilant, and fly the Singapore flag high.
Majulah Singapura!

With Joseph Tan, a cellist for The Purple Symphony. We chatted about some of his favourite genres of music. He also expressed interest in composing and I encouraged him to pursue it!

From the Istana to the Treasury for another NDOC! The Treasury houses several Ministries and agencies so there was a large turnout of public officers. Good to see the high energy levels from everyone during the sing-along session!

Happy 57th Birthday, Singapore!
Spent my National Day morning with East Coast Advisers and residents at the Changi Simei National Day Observance Ceremony.
We belted out National Day songs and worked up a sweat doing the Dance of the Nation Workout.
As we celebrate this occasion, we must remember that the road ahead will not be easy.
From economic challenges to the rising cost of living, the government will do our utmost to help you through these difficult times.
Let’s continue to stand united and work together. We are stronger, together.
Looking forward to the NDP and Show this evening!

With grassroots leaders and volunteers at our first Bedok National Day dinner since the onset of COVID-19 yesterday! Had a rousing time with some 1,500 residents as we celebrated together!

NDP 2022 beautifully encapsulated the theme of this year’s National Day — Stronger Together, Majulah!
When I spoke to Show Director Adrian Pang, he shared with me that he wanted the show to encourage us to reflect on the challenges we had gone through over the past two and a half years, and how we can emerge from these unprecedented times stronger and more united.
Indeed, the inspiring community stories and performances are a reminder of what we can achieve when we care for one another and do our part. We are Stronger Together!
A big thank you to all parade participants, performers, the NDP 2022 Organising Committee and everyone involved for the brilliant and moving show. And also wishing our Red Lion, 3WO Jeffrey Heng, a speedy recovery.
Happy National Day!

This year, some 2,200 participants marched in-person and virtually — the most in 3 years. This is the Police Guard of Honour contingent marching past. I too was part of a marching contingent back in 1980 — 42 years ago! An unforgettable moment!
