Except that after the white man spread christianity, the converted natives did not take up arms in the name of Christ to slaughter and enslave their neighbours. It was still the white man who went on conquering. For islam, the converted natives took up jihad almost immediately against their non-moslem neighbours. I made a typo in my previous post and edited the error. It wasn't the aztecs who continued to fight for Christianity after being converted by the spanish. The spanish continued to fight.

Christianity, in the form of Roman Catholic denomination, became a global religion because of the Spanish sudden global expansion in the early to mid 16 century. The British and Dutch colonized for profit, not for religion. The British and Dutch never slaughtered the local natives here, carted them off as slaves and forced the local populace to convert to Protestanism. It would have been a different story if the Spanish or any local moslem sultanate did the conquering and colonization.

It's too much of a stretch to say the Europeans and the Middle East have been fighting each other. For most of the time, the Europeans were the ones defending themselves against moslem invasions. The only exceptions were probably the 1st and 2nd Crusades, when the europeans finally went on the offensive. Before and after the 1st and 2nd Crusades, the Christians were on the defensive against a numerically superior enemy most of the time who constantly raided their coasts and lands.
