Mdm Tang , i found the Year 2008 Car Population figures for You

FY 2008

The Straits Times

S'pore car population up 9%

Unusual expansion was 3 times the allowable 3% growth cap put in place by Govt.

S'pore car population up 9%

IT IS a case of two minuses resulting in a plus.

Last year, new car sales shrank by 8.8 per cent to 106,710 units.

At the same time, the number of cars taken off the road - either scrapped or exported - shrank by 22.5 per cent to 64,145 units.

As a result, Singapore's car population grew by 9 per cent to 514,685 units last year - overtaking 2006's record rise of 7.4 per cent.

The unusual expansion was three times the allowable 3 per cent growth cap put in place by the Government.

The growth in car numbers is putting a strain on the road infrastructure; and the Land Transport Authority has been raising electronic road-pricing rates and erecting more ERP gantries.

Observers expect ERP to be more pervasive in the next few months. The trend will also impact the future supply of COEs.

Mr Neo Nam Heng, president of the Automotive Importers and Exporters Association, said there would be '60,000 or fewer' COEs to replace scrapped or exported vehicles this year - down from 86,000 in 2007.

This in turn will push COE premiums, and consequently car prices, up.

Mr Glenn Tan, chief executive of Subaru agent MotorImage, said '2008 will be a tough year for the motoring industry'.

Based On My Extroplation of Numbers

Current Car / Vehicle (All Types) Population should be about 1,000,000 units.

If bros said Only 2 % are Malaysian or Foreign Registered Cars in Singapore

2% roughly = 20, 000

my estimate is 10 % Foreign Cars in Singapore

at any given day = 100,000 ?

and at any given day 100,000 foreign motor bikes ?

Any one got the FY 2011 Figures ???

Govt should be fair .

S$20 per day should raise to S$50 per day

S$4 per day should raise to S$10 per day.

Since they are going to casino then park at Woodlands and take Cab or MRT.

Why jam our roads ???

Any foreign var enter Singapore is easy to count. Just ask the LTA/ICA for the info. All foreign car must have VEP need to clock in and clock out everytime pass thru custom.
I estimate less than 2% foreign car excluded lorry/bus(lorry is to ferry good from Malaysia to Singapore if ban them then we eat shit). Do u own survey when driving on they road. How many SG plate and MY plate.
My estimate should be correct.

COE is an idiot tax, only the rich and the moronic pays that tax, no one force U to pay COE, U can easily survive in SG without a car. Everything U mentioned, U have a choice NOT to pay them so why are U complaining?
I don't see any problem when the rich own cars because they can easily afford the COE.

The problem comes when the poor and sandwich classes also own cars as a status symbol and for face. These are the idiots.

The higher the price of COE gets, the more these idiots want to own cars. Ask any luxury industry insiders and they can attest that the more expensive an item is, the more people aspire of owning it. It's more psychological than financial that makes their idiotic decisions.

Want to show off please show at least 100 pcs SG$10k note. I will look at the cash rather than car.

The problem with carrying so much cash to show off is the danger of being robbed and possibly get killed, and the perpetrator can easily get away with it.

At least with a car to show off, the perpetrator will need to carjack the car first and then try to sell the car which is more difficult for him and much easier for the SPF to catch him.
