A psychologist title in USA requires Phd and then certification by the board. So, to be a psychologist, it is at least 10 years of education plus the certification process.

I have never come across a mental health professional that has succeeded in preventing a suicide.

If you go to a qualified psychiatrist all they do is dispense anti depressants which take more than a month to work on a small proportion of those who are prescribed these drugs.

No depressed person intent on suicide is going to hang around waiting for drugs to kick in.
