Usually, these guys are all wearing life vests in the safety boats. I find it very strange that even after falling into the water, the life vest did not keep him afloat. And why couldn't he swim? Was he already unconscious when he hit the water? Unless, he was not issued a life vest, which would be the fault of the perm staff and can be considered negligent. In that case, it explains why they fly a team out from Singapore to conduct SAR rather than the CO of the Perm staff attachment.

the new report that his life jacket was not inflated. i used that b4 during BX water evacation drill. trust me, once inflated, confirm rise to the surface. the only thing not sure was the life jacket malfunction or now. maybe the gas cylinder broke so cannot inflate the life jacket. knowing SAF, maybe the gas cylinder attached to the life jacket expired.

Will be interesting to know whose heads will roll if their investigations revealed that the cylinder attached to the life jacket had expired..

Being in the Marine Industry, most of my company's life jackets are always checked and serviced promptly by the life jacket's agent in Loyang before we distributed it to the vessel crew..

SAF really fucked up big time if they failed to even inspect the expiry date of a small gas cyclinder..
