the woman would not have honked at all IF the foreigner had observed rule no. 8

don't forgot about rule no. 8.1, the unwritten one: cars own the road.

So i this case i would say the cyclist broke the rules by riding in the center of the lane:

8. Every bicycle shall be ridden close to the left hand edge of the roadway and in such a manner as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed.

2 losers in 1 spot...

do you know that kids in the 80s head over to road safety park to pick up good habits of road safety? i believe the park is still open to public.

That's not road hogging. All experienced cyclists ride 1 to 1.5 metres from the gutter. This is to prevent cars from shaving past.

In fact, this guideline is given in many city cycling tips :

http://www.toronto.ca/bug/commutertips.htm

  • Be Predictable
Cyclists are predictable when they ride in a straight line and when they communicate (signal) their intentions about changing position or direction. By riding in a straight line it is easier for traffic around you to predict your actions. Know how to position yourself in traffic. Ride 1 meter away from the curb, never in the gutter, and out of the way of opening doors along parked cars.

Fuck you Bitch, try cycle 20km/hour and hogging 1 lane in Business district area, see who's at fault _|_

I thought you were never coming back? Can't live without this site?

Yes i know. I remember having the police giving twice yearly bicycle workshops during my primary school days. That was back in Germany though.

The workshops obviously did not cover how to avoid getting caught for doping.

They focused solely on safety issues like defensive riding and making sure the bicycles we used to cycle to school were roadworthy. I remember getting a sticker for my bicycle at the end of it. I was so proud of it.

You have to start training the safety mindset at a young age.

No such unwritten rule. Most drivers are simply clueless about cyclists rights on the road. Time to educate them.

May sound nice in a forum where nonsense can be spewed but it's nevertheless erroneous information.

Erroneous information? You are mistaken, I was obviously giving an opinion and nothing wrong with such an opinion for government to license the bicycles, made them pay road tax and insurance and be held accountable for accidents. The act of licensing bicycles will help to tackle the problem of foreign trash cyclist behaving badly and aggressively and create the need for them to follow the road traffic rules (if not license will be disqualified or demerit points deducted just like motorists).

My opinion has nothing to do with whether roads are funded by road tax or general taxes, cyclists have right to use the roads, and the benefits of car free environment. Whether roads are funded by general taxes or not, it is not wrong to ask cyclist to pay their fair share for road usage, just like the motorists who are made to pay road tax although roads are funded by general taxes.

I agree. We are not mis-stating the rules here. We are questioning the rules and saying they are flawed. Cyclists must be made to shoulder a greater burden if they are to share common resources with other motorists. That also includes having to abide by the same set of rules of road conduct that motorists have to abide by, and subject to the same penalties and punishments.

When I got my first bike in Singapore, it was licensed and the plate was prominently displayed.

It didn't stop us from riding like lunatics and assaulting taxi drivers who cut us off.

It made no difference then and it sure as hell wouldn't make any difference now.

Cars are all licensed but that has not solved the problem of idiot drivers breaking the road rules either. If licensing fixed all the ills of society, Utopia would have arrived a long time ago.

so should we remove car/bike licence plates, car insurance, rd tax to make it fair for all rd users?

Sinkieland's road is too crowded....bicycles should be banned from the roads. Period.
Back in the days there was a time I used to cycle to school everyday....great start to the day....as kids friends and i would cycle everywhere. No danger all freedom....

Totally agree. They are fighting their rights of use in SG road and digging their grave inches by inches. :oIo::kma:
