Becoming a taxi driver

I am looking for a job with daily cash and being a taxi driver comes to my mind.

But as i spoke to one taxi uncle, he explain to me not very easy also...

Register with LTA need $40.

Once approve, need take course about $300

Once pass, need to get a taxi which need deposit from $1000 - $3000 !!!

Daily rental rate is about $95 + Petrol, all in he said $180 and above is what i will earn.

Which means to earn a $100 a day, i need to clock in $280. If one customer average $15, i need 18 customers a day.

If 1 hour pick up one, i need to be on the road for 18 hours a day. 6 hours of sleep.

And no holiday no life. If sick the rental still need to pay.

Want to rest, or take holiday or catch up with friends means money lost.

Not very easy eh ??

Lorry driver at least 20ft and above. Small lorry need to compete with FT(many Ah Neh).
Crane lorry driver at least $2k/month/ try bus driver.

$60/day is really low. Many job offer that kind of pay.
$60x25 day = $1500/month.

being taxi driver is the worst exploited job.

to begin with, it's not even a JOB. u r working for FREE and making $ for those big transport companies. lst, u got to pay for the cab rental which is very expensive. then the fuel, the insurances and etc.

if u fall sick, it's ur biz. u still ve to bear the taxi rental.

if u work hard, it's worst! u r more likely to fall sick or get some chronic disease such as permanent heart problems or back pain. that's probably for the rest of your life.

taxi-driver job is a very stressful job. u r bounded in a confined space of the vehicle everyday for long periods. how healthy could that be?

the road congestion, the pollution and not to mention the traffic summons....sometime u just make enough to pay the summon, the taxi company, the fuel and ended up only a miserly amount for your very humble 3 meals.

definitely NOT worth the job to die for.

Go to your MP (opposition also can) and get a letter to go see your CDC Mayor.

If your MP happens to be also CDC Mayor or Minister, s/he may be able to intro a job there and then.

All major taxi company , Comfort ; SMRT ; etc

have program for new drivers

that reimburse all course fees plus sign-on incentives !!!


Never interview taxi driver

on their income !!!


Just like you never interview a street walker


on how lucrative her trades !!!

all taxi companies welcome u to be their money-making cab-driver. if u dun join, then they just have 1 more taxi idling and losing a few hundreds a day. u r their free labour of love.

GO BE A BUS DRIVER

they train u. u get paid and don't ve to worry about all the unnecessary overheads. they pay u for your services and give u medical n other fringe benefits.

FORGET ABOUT TAXI-DRIVER

after working so hard, u r not only rewarded with a host of chronic disease, u get cursed from other drivers, passengers and almost everyone who crosses sword with a taxi-driver.
