GMS visits Gay Village in Manchester.

This is Gay Village in Manchester. As the Cradle of Radical Politics, Manchester has also fought for Equal Rights for the LGBTQ community.

Asylum seekers who are LGBTQ were not granted stay in UK but this practice has been abolished.

UK has legislated same sex marriage a few years ago.

The location of this Gay Village is just a couple of blocks across the street from University of Manchester.

However, even as a Craddle of Radical Politics, the reality of hesitancy of Gay culture acceptance has set in.

According to a friend who is property agent in Manchester, the properties surrounding this Gay Village are not that popular.

A new high end project completed a couple of years ago, sitting in between University of Manchester and Gay Village has difficulties in selling. Normally, property launched in the city of Manchester are sold pretty quickly, sometimes even before completion.

Especially so when the foreign students intake for the few Universities in Manchester is pretty high. Many Properties are invested for renting out to these foreign students.

But it is kind of strange for a property project which is just next to the University of Manchester to suffer low sales. Most of the investors are concerned about the impact of Gay Village on the potential capital gain on these properties.

This situation is something for us to ponder over. Fighting for equal rights for LGBTQ doesn't equate to general acceptance of the lifestyle. Follow the money and you will know where the hearts go.

GMS explains what many people don't really understand.

Many people don't really understand the fine differences between Socialism, Fascism and Communism.

I find this chart very useful in explaining.

Karl Marx had actually listed out why Capitalism will fail or result in social instability and class struggles. It was written in his book Kapitalism.

It is quite a difficult book to read actually but the gist of it, Capitalism (without controls) will only result in extreme social wealth divides and thus instability.

Communism calls for class struggle to topple the capitalist and get the State to own every factors or production, giving equal income to all etc. This is actually against human nature.

Socialism agrees that ultra capitalism will result in uneven share of income and wealth in the society and thus advocates active interventions and legislation to redistribute wealth and resources in a more balanced manner. Public essential services are owned by the government which can be democratically elected, instead of dictatorship or authoritarian.

Other businesses can be owned by private individuals but taxed to redistribute wealth.

There will definitely a tradeoff of economic efficiency but it is regarded as acceptable cost to maintain social stability in the long run.
