A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

it looks good but is it good?

So far i think the most popular android smart phone for sg users is the samsung galaxy 2 which is matching in popularity with the ip4s might even be overtaking it.

I know for sure that the camera is tip-top. The rest I don't know.

Then again, it's $0. How can you even compare it with Galaxy ?

Wow this is good. Sg prepaid voice sim cards don't have this feature i think and if you want it lord knows how much you have to pay. It's like 18 bucks for 3 continous days of unlimited broadband usage only for broadband sims. So that's pretty expensive if you need to use prepaid broadband for a long period of time in sg. On top of that i believe starhub and singtel cap the speed of their networks so you are not near the max speed of 7.2mbps which is around 800-900 kbps d/l speed.

Also you need to register with your ic whenever you buy a broadband sim cos they cannot allow anaymous ppl posting inflammtory things on the net which makes it even worse cos you cannot buy it from some convinence stores even if they sell these cards. I ever tried to buy one prepaid broadband sim for a fren at one 7-11 store and the stupid ah neh clerk told me the person in charge of it isn't around or some shit excuse like that i'm sure it's cos he doesn't know how to register the cards.
Yeap, on one of my trip back, used my Singtel postpaid SIM for 3G internet access. Cost me SGD 280 for 3 days of internet usage. I have terminated my postpaid account with Singtel. I only retain the line as I need it to do online banking with UOB. Later, found out the UOB can support LOS mobile phones without extra cost. I terminate Singtel immediately and ask UOB to use my Thai mobile for their online banking.

ok guys. It's been sometime since I log on to SBF during the evenings. Anyway, a great place to be when not at the bars. Will be another long day for me tomorrow and so will be going ZZzz liaoz.

Samsung Note touted as iPhone killer....I am still resisting the switch to android

Hehehe. Today woke up early. Was going through my camera and saw a few pics taken nights ago at a Baan Nork Mor Lam Concert at Second Road, Pattaya.

Photo0430.jpg

There are easily 800-900 people at the concert and it's only about 9pm. The blue PVC chairs are used for putting the drinks and later into the night, maybe become weapon.

Photo0432.jpg

Nearer to the stage. Sorry for the clarity as have problem finding a place to stand.

Photo0433.jpg

Just outside the drink stall. You can get most alcoholic drinks here. Don't expect Black Label or Chivas here. Only Blend 285 and 100 pipers and of course, beers. Even spotted a few Farangs.

Photo0434.jpg

How it works? You need to be with group of friends. Find a PVC chair and order your drinks. Put your drinks on the PVC chair and that becomes your 'table'. Next, drink and party!

Photo0437.jpg

Security staff at the entrance of the concert. Fights are very common in such concerts. BTW, the entrance fee is THB100 for locals and farangs.

A question. Everytime when browsing SBF site, safari browser will prompt to use/download Forum Runner. Is there any way to disable the prompt? Or it's recommended to use forum runner?

If you are using AIS or any other Thai service provider, simply give them a call and then check with them if they have any tie-up with any telcos of the country you are visiting. If have ask them for unlimited plan and its very very cheap. How you think I online all the time in Singapore taking all those pics of MRT, Q'town and food and posting them immediately? Example of plan is AIS has tie-up with a telco in almost all ASEAN countries and also in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong etc etc rates is very reasonable and usually 350baht (1 day) , 950 baht (3 days) , 1400 baht (5 days), not $280 for 3 days come on. Its not just for business, if wife travel I will buy packages for her like her 2 weeks Japan trip I'll purchase 3 x 5 days packages which costs 3 x 200- baht = 6,000 baht (less than $250, for 15 days mind you). With the number of Viber and LINE calls and WhatsApp, Skype, MSN, LINE messages it very worth and not forgetting Instagram.

click here for - countries with Bridge Alliance having teh above standard rates I mentioned

http://www.roaming.ais.co.th/ais-ir-out-gsm-web/promotion-out-gsm25.html

click here for - other countries not on bridge alliance (like Japan and some European countries etc, some have unlimited plan like Japan and Germany and UK etc)

This is the way to go of you are with AIS. Saves you lots of money.

Wah, double up BIG brekkie (local style):D Thai noodles standard portion small (keep prices low vs inflasi somemore). Roti with satay sauce is standard there, though we do rice cubes here.

Oy, sure or not chio bu? No diff if you mozaic face (as not clear mah):p

Believe it or not a Singapore based venture capitalist, Ho Ching:confused:, bought part of Hayes before it crashed.
I bet it was Ho Ching's famous midas touch :D

I read about Hayes history from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayes_Microcomputer_Products

Never hears of Hayes. Do you know when was this and how much lost? Think her famous stint was the micropolis lost about 700m US or something like that.
Yes. That's the one. Later also had a US Robotic with 28Kbps or 29Kbps. Not sure which year but should be during early 80s or late 70s.

HC losing 700m? That is sup sup water.

Mircopolis lost a million a day for over one year......final losses figure close to what you quoted.
best thing was they spin it to commend her on having the balls (pardon the pun) to cut losses.
700 million is peanuts compared to what was donated to Thaksin and other billion dollar losses....

Actually if you sign up for a pretty good plan on one of the 3 telecos i'm sure even the galaxy 2 would be free. There might be a promo on that. I've seen that for the iphone.

I'm a sucker for beautiful body lines. I think the Xperia Neo V is one up against the flat and mundane looking Galaxy.
