Yes, its a common perception. I am looking for such cases to see the balance. I am also aware that rentals are a major concern and if you can't nip that, then cheaper staff are the way to go to survive.
Overall the FT policy can only work if Singaporeans are gainfully employed and not displaced for the wrong reasons.
Hopefully other employers can share their views so a better picture can be created.
After face to face interviews a woman from Shandong won hands down. She has relevant F&B experience and had deep knowledge about Chinese cuisine. I walked her through the kitchen and she even demo to me her ability to handle various implements. I was very impressed how skilfully she handled the knife when deboned and fillet the fish. Even my tao chiu respect. She has basic grasp of English.
She will fly back to China for Chinese New Year on Friday but the job will be waiting for her when she returns two weeks later. I am very lucky to get this good catch. I have a Chinese guy on standby if I need extra help - from Jilin, quite a big muscular guy and good for heavy work.
The others were all okay but too bad, only one vacancy perhaps two. Food business is still going strong despite economicdownturn becuase people still need to eat. And my restaurant is low to middle priced, not high end, so volume should hold.
You were looking for a waiter/kitchen helper. From what I observe in restaurants in Singapore, this is not a real waiter job, but someone to bring food to the table to be served by another wait staff. The real wait staff will be too busy serving customers to double as a kitchen helper, not to mention the mess on their uniforms. After face to face interviews a woman from Shandong won hands down. do the right thing employ a local and let the foreigners rot....
Your business qualifies and all your staff qualify. The cap is $900 max per worker per quarter. The salary based on previous quarter will be used. No need to apply. Credit will come from IRAS every quarter. Must be on CPF payroll.whoa tonight business was extremely good because of run up to Chinese New Year. I think next two weeks will be solid but after that people will tighten belts. Still they need to eat and my attractive value prices will be helpful
Tharman's Budget to subsidise 12% of worker's pay is damn solid, but must wait for details what kind of staff qualify.
(NS) National Service employs locals and not foreigners.

yeah, checked twice.
applies only to locals and PR on CPF
but never mind, anything is better than nothing
still restaurant business is thriving, especially low to middle priced ones like mine. as long as food is good, people will come for good value for money
ox year huat ah!
I asked for the govt to open the taxi market so that foriegners can drive with the purpose of raising standards. Singaporeans are too pampered and need these foreigners to wake them up.
I care about service standards not protectionism
I care about service standards not protectionism
If Singaporeans are strong, they will survive. Protectionism makes us weaker in the long run.
- lowest expected salary $900 with lodging and food, highest expected $1,900!!! (lol)
u can get a local with at $1200 with 10% cpf will be $1320 only..its cheaper than the PRC..
