Why should other LEGITIMATE road users be DEPRIVED of usage?

How fast can a cyclist ride his cycle?
The average Tour de France rider maintains an average speed of 45 Kmph on flats and hitting top speeds of 130 Kmph.
An average 50cc moped has a top speed of around 48 Kmph.
A road cycle can officially go faster than a moped but there is no need for insurance.
One do not need a licence or any road education to ride a cycle on the road. Neither is any tax being paid.
They are not licenced, regulated, or safety-checked in any form.
You need to be a certain age and have certain types of licences for bigger more powerful motorbikes.
Anyone, of any age can ride a cycle that can do any speeds.
Cycles on the road do not require any kind of safety or reliability tests.
"Speed limits only apply to mechanically propelled vehicles but NOT to cyclists"
So cyclists can race at any speed on a public road and there is no law against it! How can this be?

Because cyclists are entitled to use the roads just like the rest of the road users.

Nobody is being deprived of anything.

Push Bikes don't have a motor so the idea that licensing, demerit points and tests are required is just plain ludicrous. Pedestrians use the roads too but nobody is suggesting that you need to pass a test before you are allowed to set foot on a patch of asphalt.

Bicycles are nothing more than a device that makes traveling under human power more efficient. Other examples are roller skates, skateboards etc.

Cycling should be encouraged. If everyone cycled instead of drive the population would be healthier, the air would be cleaner, the city would be far more pleasant, deaths caused by traffic accidents would plunge, less fossil fuel would be burned and less petroleum would need to be imported.

Land freed up by reducing the roading infrastructure could be converted to green spaces and the quality of life would be better for everyone.
