how yishun or nee soon came to be is interesting...nee soon village was at the junction of upp bukit timah on the way to old sembawang...use to go there for m&d crabs catching in a sampan
...during the HDB era the entire old sembawang got demolished and part of the sembawang was the infamous naval base ...indian territory ...known for drugs ,gambling ,gangsters ,and many more ...this lot were moved to the Yishun...the rest is history
