Nursing homes is like any business ...you think by sending your folks there ....everything will be care of ? Think again .

This thread is delicated to you ...ram .

Not to just ram but to all of us as a wake up call. When the time comes we might be the one in the picture. So to 1 and all live a fullfilled life and pray that your life do not end up that way.

but ram see nothing wrong with sending his folks to nursing home ...

I've never sent anyone to old folks' home. There was only one case of old folks' home in my family history as I've referred to in the other thread. The decision was made between herself (my great grandma), doctor's recommendation and the senior uncles. If something like that falls on me when I'm senior enough to be part of decision making process, I wouldn't rule out anything, neither would I insist where there's unwillingness. Notice I've mentioned, she said she'd give it a try and if she didn't like it there, the senior uncles would have her back home anytime she wished.

Other people have other mindsets and circumstances, so don't just moralise with your own standard of self-righteousness. It sounds the same as if you don't believe in Jesus, you'd go to hell. The very preaching tone that you hate so much is emitting from you now, can't you hear your own echo? Hiring a maid was the first choice among the senior uncles. The doctor recommended old folks' home. She agreed. That's it.

god and nursing home are totally different issue ...you want me to break down the differences ? can you compare apples with oranges ?

as i mention in other thread before...no old folks in the world are willing to go nursing home themself ( the only reason your folks willing to go there because they dont want to give you guys any burden ...thats all ) . most folks rather die outside then to die inside . maybe you didnt send any of your folks to those " homes " . but you think its ok to send them there ....

Give a man a sour apple and a sour orange, both tastes sour.

I'm prepared to go there myself if need be. I wouldn't do unto others, especially my loved ones and seniors, what I wouldn't have done unto myself. Different strokes for different folks, hope you can understand and accept that. In fact, after my grandparents suffered strokes, my dad announced a verbal will that he should be sent to old folks' home if something similar happened to him. Yes, he was worried about the burden he'd cause to the family. He wasn't so easy to take care of like my normal sized grandparents if he was paralysed. He was a 200 lb. boxer. But he didn't get to live that long or suffer a stroke, heart artery clutter and hypertension took away clean by age 45.

I always make it clear to my sons _ boys, I do not raise you up as my old age insurance, I bring you up as a duty of parent with love and care that I can give you, you are free to go anywhere and dunt have to worry a thing about me, dunt worry, I won't die in old age home, I will just fade away

and at another time _ when faced with question from my good doctor whether I would consider nursing home or hospice _ I said NO !

I said that I wouldn't rule it out if need be and there's consent.

You're sounding worse than the evangelist that you hate so much. I wouldn't even rule out suicide or euthanasia for myself if all else fail me.

Different folks, different homes, different experience. There can be good intention, there can be bad intention too. The entailment for intention and decision making arised from her physical condition.

I was just a teenager then. She was still head of family. She was the one with all the money. She was old and frail but still had her mental faculty. She decided to take the doctor's advice. Which part of that is too difficult for you to understand? Most of my senior uncles were against it. Get a maid was much cheaper.
