World Cup 2010 Forecastology

Yesterday was grazing in the land of milk and honey for the herd. 3 teams (England, Germany,USA) performed according to expectations. The victory by USA in particular was sweet as the money winning goal was scored in the 90th minute. The only downer was Australia upsetting former giant slayer Serbia. Still many had half expected an Australian upset so betting in that market was thin.

For today's matches, the following is the mid-day report

Paraguay-New Zealand Betting in this market is thin. Paraguay is the favoured team to win this match. Paraguay is however not particularly famous. Like Australia, New Zealand has a record of slaying giants. The herd thinking is therefore to stay out of this match.

Italy-Slovakia The return to form by the other European giants does not seem to have rubbed off on Italy. The herd continue to have serious doubts about whether Italy will perform tonight and make it through. Betting is light.

Denmark-Japan Betting is surprisingly heavy considering that these two teams are not in the heavy weight class. The herd is expecting Denmark to decisvely beat Japan. This is probably due to recent fine win by Denmark over former dark horse favourite Cameroon. Another possible reason is complicated "kelong" analysis which suggest that this match is "fixed".

Netherlands-Cameroon The fallen dark horse Cameroon is facing off against rising star Netherlands. Based on recent betting in the World Cup winner market, Netherlands is currently listed as the 4th most likely team to win World Cup 2010. There is therefore strong interest in betting for a Netherlands win. The only concern is that the canny Netherlands coach might choose to rest key players given the strong placing of Netherlands in the group.

Holland, Netherlands and the Dutch, why 3 names named after 1 country??:confused::confused:

Dutch is the language that developed from a Germanic dialect, an offshoot of Deutsche.

Holland is what the English called them, a contraction of hollow+land, i.e. land behind sea level. Nederland is what Holland call themselves in Dutch, same meaning of land below sea level. The Dutch prefer the Netherlands to be their official English name, but somehow the use of Holland has stuck.

Heavy betting on Netherlands to decisively beat Cameroon. Bet flow is also heavy for Denmark to beat Japan.

Ref would like England to go next round to meet Germany. This time England will show them how to play football. Germany fear England the most. The last time Germany beat England in a world cup match was in 1970. Eng must wears red jersey.
1990 semi finals?

Tonight Holland, hur hur hur

Your tonque like to lick ass but tonight against the black and dirty asses of the niggas, I think you also think twice. As such, Holloand vs Cameroon will be a draw game.:D

Actually, Germany's competitive record when versus England was not that great, but dramatised by the failure of England in two penalty shoot-outs.

1966 : England 4 West Germany 2 (World Cup Final)

1970 : West Germany 3 England 2 (World Cup Q-Final)

1980 : West Germany 0 England 0 (World Cup 2nd Round)

1990 : West Germany 1 England 1 (World Cup S-Final) (West Germany won shoot-out)

1996 : England 1 Germany 1 (Euro S-Final) (Germany won shoot-out again)

2000 : England 1 Germany 0 (Euro 1st Round)

2001 : England 0 Germany 1 (World Cup Qualifying)

2001 : Germany 1 England 5 (World Cup Qualifying)

Very early market returns suggest that this match will end in a draw and the result will be decided by penalty shoot out. Anyone has any feel which team is better at taking penalities?

Germany of course made that infamous miss that caused them to lose that match to Serbia. Was this an unlucky fluke or is it a sign that this German team might not be so good at penalities?

You are really one si lang tau.
Cameroon is already out whether Holland beats them or not.
Ghana is through to the next round, so there will be at least one African nation still in the world cup.

Holland's Chinese motto is 弹你去荷兰。。。哈!哈!哈!

It means 弹你下水...down into the waters! Hahaha!!!

Tonight even if Cameroon win will also out of the game. The only Africa team make it ti 2nd round is Ghana.

Ivory Coast still got chance, if Brazil don't give face to Portugal and Ivory Coast beat North Korea by something like 10:0. :D

Even if Ivoty can beat N. Korea 20-0.
Brazill and Portugal draw. Both in 2nd round.
So Ivory and N. Korea just have to shake hand and prepare to fly back.
Too bad 3rd game not yet start but both already out of the game.:D

Gone case! Both Brazil and Portugal speak Portugese. Easy to understand and settle.
