It creates much greater accountability, because those from the ruling party who are still in parliament will be more mindful of the ordinary peoples' interests. That's why a strong opposition and more opposition party MPs is necessary.
The issue is not which party will form the better government. We really don't know the answer to that.

The real check and balances are you vote out PAP and let our oppositions form govt, you vote out oppositions and let PAP return to govt again.

Once PAP realize they can lose elections, their likelihood of them implementing elections promises are higher because they know broken promises will be punished in future elections.

It don't improve Singapore and will last for sometimes. Singapore don't have oppo like Ozzies which can be switched to run as gahment by voters.

It is not that Oppos that cause these problems but it will be among the PAP themselves that will cause all these problems. Some power holding PAP members will see it as a crack in the power and take opportunities to seize powers within their party power holders. Malaysian politicans will move in to destablise Singapore further and hoping to seize Singapore too.

But if you want changes that's the prize to pay to rid of redundance MM, SM posting which was created to rip off Singapore tax payers money and also rid of the PM who pay himself $3.7M for doing nothing and the kangaroo court system.

Singapore has a decent public bureaucracy that can survive changes in ruling govt, it is another PAP bullshit to scare voters into believing the country will collapse overnight once PAP are no longer governing.

Our oppositions may have zero experiences in government but they are all well-educated professionals whom I believe can take over and run the country with relative ease. The oppositions are also not bandit king Li Zicheng who will loot the country dry after defeating PAP in elections.

that's why we must control the balances of power between PAP and Oppositions with our votes.

If Oppositions and PAP are equally strong. they can check on each others effectively, the greedy and selfish politicians are controlled when there are balances of power.

What u said makes sense in theory. but does the opp really want to act as a counterbalance to the pap in the first place? the opp members might be thinking of sucking up to the pap instead.:p

I'm not sure if the current crop of oppositions can govern Singapore better than PAP. You've to give them a chance to find out; and in doing, give ourselves a chance.

But based on my observation, I'm pretty sure PAP can make a much better opposition than the current crop of oppositions.
