He speaks Mandarin sometimes when he debates.
But I think what he's doing is correct.
By speaking English, many chinese educated people who have had difficulty with English in their lives identify with him.
And many English educated people appreciate the effort he's making.
That's why his support remains strong through the years.
Ok, he may not be the most outspoken, articulate or forceful person around, but many people appreciate the work he does.

All are human and have their own fallacies, but with more political parties in the system, there will be opposing doctrines and interest, that's where check and balance becomes effective.

The country needs to build a tolerant and flexible system that is not dependent on only afew individuals. Just like any corporate system, CEO change, the company still operates.

What makes u think the oppo will do that? The opp members will be looking out for their own interests. altruism is dead in sg.

this is a very simple honest thread. why is it banned? the reason is obvious.

paps scrutinised all its prospective mp wannabes candidates while the opp - other than wp - would grab anyone, eg. SDP.

if by some freak election, any of those fr SDP were to be elected, stay tuned for all hell break loose!!

luckily, voters are I NOT STUPID category. there is no way SDP or its related new subsidiaries is going to be supported or voted.

The key issue is not depend on gov to help you with everything. The key issue is not allowing any gov to become too strong and powerful to run your live for you. You have to retain that power to yourself. The gov is to service the citizen as a servant to a master and not the other way round.


I am not looking for a strong gov. I am looking for a gov that will limit itself from becoming too strong.
