Uphill task especially how to report the data...if swap 5000 staff and patients and 100 turns out asymptomatic (like what Sam always say how many are actually sick ) are they going to report as it is and if they isolate the staff there will be definitely manpower shortage to care for patients, of course public confidence will also be affected and especially so if the 100 have taken their vaccine...if they under report or release the data in batches the public may feel they are covering up...so not easy...for me I see this becoming like mrsa infection, virus meets unproven vaccine and is not mutating into something else, perhaps less lethal but much more contagious..

to make a decision to lock down hospital means they know it's serious from the data and info they have on hand that we don't know
no such thing as suka suka lockdown a public hospital one

Actually what's happening now is more of a soft lock down...personal opinion is that it is a bad move...I'm trained as a nurse but at the same time I agree with Sam that we have to learn to accept Covid as a new part of our lives

Australia shuts down India travel loophole

A travel loophole being used to circumvent the India flights ban has been shut down by the federal government.

Two Australian cricketers, previously stranded in India, arrived home yesterday after travelling through the Qatar capital of Doha.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison addressed the issue while speaking with Ben Fordham on 2GB this morning.

"We will be taking more action about that loophole," Mr Morrison said.

He said the Federal Government was told earlier this week by Qatar authorities that connecting flights from India would be closed by Wednesday, but that the flight the cricketers were on had taken off before the shutdown.

"We had information on Monday that that wasn't possible," he said.

Mr Morrison said the government had spoken with airlines about the Doha connection and passengers were no longer flying to Australia.

Defence Minister Peter Dutton echoed the Prime Minister's comments on Today, saying the Australian Border Force was "dealing with" the flights and airlines in question.

India is battling a COVID-19 crisis, with more than a million new cases in the past three days. (AP)

Labor Party National President Wayne Swan criticised the government for not identifying the loophole sooner.

"The ramifications of this are incredibly serious for the country," he told Today.

Australia's travel suspension with India, announced earlier this week, had temporarily ended all direct flights from the coronavirus-ravaged nation.
The ban will remain in place until at least May 15.

India has been struggling to manage record numbers of COVID-19 cases in the country, with more than one million new cases reported in the past three days.

Its getting entertaining to watch open borders for travellers from Indians trying to get out of India and other countries blocking and chasing them away....

I see next will be Indians seeking refugees from sea.... good luck SEA countries.... accept or not to accept.....

Nevertheless this proven that wear masks, social distancing, lockdown and close border works all good to keep the spread down and to zero....

Thanks to those garments who did all they can to stop the spread in their respective country..

As predicted the 2nd wave is more lethal than the beginning...

True that.
Indian covid strain is a triple mutation n more contagious than any others. Sgp has a dense population, one mistake like this can potentially be very damaging.

IMPORTED CASES - 29 April

There were 19 imported cases of Covid-19 recorded on Thursday and all had been placed on stay-home notices upon their arrival here, MOH said.

They were:

Two Singaporeans and nine permanent residents who returned from India and South Korea

Three dependant’s pass holders who arrived from India and Sri Lanka

Five work permit holders who came from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and the Philippines — one of whom is a foreign domestic worker

WHY so many Ah Nehs want to come to this small island Red Dot ??? They can also go to other bigger countries such as Malaysia,Indonesia,Africa and South America.
I repeat . Red Dot is just a small dot in the world. Enough is enough .Go to to countries. Red Dot is already very congested and densely populated. The rate that imported cases of covid-19 are occurring daily is akin to allowing walking human time bombs into Red Dot which could cause a explosion of covid-19 pandemic to the whole community in Red Dot.
