Well although LTK talked about "walking its own path" but inevitably, WP's bad performance will definitely affect public confidence in ALL opposition parties. That's the inevitable impact on democratic development for Singapore. This is the ultimate disappointment I have about WP.

Yes, I would expect the WP and other oppo parties to increase their percentage. If for no other reason than the situation for sinkies have gotten worse since the last election. Namely, more FTs, more crowdedness, more expensive housing, more cost of living etc. That's no big revelation. What do you mean when you say the WP is going strong in Aljunied, Hougang, etc.? You mean they are doing a good job of handling the conservancy fees? The estates are cleaned? There are no rats running around? You know how pathetic that sounds?

I am talking about the big picture here. I am talking about the WP standing in PArliament and pointing a finger at the PAP fucks across the room and shouting "Give us our fucking CPF back" or "Stopping letting in more shit talents" or "Stop giving free scholarships to foreign students while our own students pay like hell", etc. Go big or go home.

It is undoubted consensus among lots of observers and even hardcore anti-PAP/ opposition supporters that WP has a mediocre performance in Parliament. Granted, people could still be apologetic about that because WP's main branding, is basically based on prudent management of Town Council and consistency in its ground work. This is important to win over middle ground voters who might be skeptical of voting for an unknown entity to run their TC and screw it up for them. Such direct cost to them will be unbearable even though they might want more opposition voices in parliament. Thus, WP could well win the support of this critical group of voters which may just become the king makers.

But now, even that little advantage WP has, is blowing up like a dynamite. Its FMSS management team has screwed up the management of TC. How would you convince this group of people to vote for WP again? Time will tell but these are the basis of my utter disappointment. If WP cannot keeps its house in order but continue to give lots of irrelevant excuses, it will further dent its own credibility and deemed lack of integrity and accountability.

The parliamentary aspect also does not impact their votes. I suspect along with many others that in fact, WP's vote share will increase in the next GE. Not because people see WP as becoming stronger and stronger, but that people are getting more and more fed up with PAP. What could be tolerated in 2011 may not be tolerated today any longer. As for the TC, you have basically taken the PAP side and claim they have screwed things up royally. That is purely the PAP version. It is hardly the rock solid truth grounded in actual statistics. The question is why are you doing the PAP's work? It should be KBW and Vivienne Balakrishnan who should be going around doing the dirty work. There is no need for a so-called commentator like you to be doing the work on behalf of million dollar PAP ministers.

Unlike people like Tan Lead Shake, GMS does have expectation of the party brand and constituency he will contest if he runs. At the same time, we are at an era where opposition parties find it easier to gain enough recruits. The only parties that will open their doors to him are those like RP and SDA, that he will not want anyways.
