It is not a police matter when the bombings are part of a wider campaign to destabilise the whole country.

The deaths of servicemen are a necessary sacrifice. Even the police had to pay a similar price in order to bring law and order to the country during those turbulent times.

These service appointments you mentioned will probably be filled by regulars as the cost is the same. As for combat soldiers, most NSmen will enter NS at 'A' level or lower. There is no exact benchmark for fighting soldiers. So I guess they will use the closest proxy - that of a trainee security guard. All in all, I am not very hopeful any good thing will come out of this, knowing our govt.

Being compelled to serve NS is bad enough...dont burden them further with slaves' pay

Yes it is a police matter. Soldiers are trained in conventional warfare. They would be helpless in cases where the terrorists hide among the civilian population. As they wouldn't know who the enemy is.

Spore already has the ISD to maintain internal security. Unfortunately they are too busy going after the local opposition
