What happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones but names and words can't hurt me."?

It is very clear societies are headed the wrong, producing youngsters that are strawberries and porcelain dolls.

Back in the pre-Internet, pre-social media days, suicidal people would just do it without first spilling their emotions to the entire world.

Kids are too pampered these days: rounded edges (child-safe) furniture, replacing playgrounds made of steel, concrete and sand with rubber mats and Fisherprice plastic.

but every generation says previous generation is soft
ypur father's gen also say you are soft
no?
Nope! My father was from the greatest generation and my generation was tough, hard working, made no excuses, we kicked ass!

For the unfortunate youth who successfully ended their lives, most of them tend to be from the higher-income families or academically stronger. This group cannot handle bullying, failures or NS well.

Worse of all, many schools in Singapore are covering up on bullying issues by discouraging or detering parents from filing incident reports.

In the good old days victims of bullying would take karate lessons and get their revenge.

The problem with our country is that the schools and police will also punish those who hit back at the bully. So now pussy-parenting advocates bullied kids not to return fire and complain to teacher. Then when kids complain to teachers, the form teacher, level head and principal will discourage the filing of INCIDENT REPORTS. They may scold the bullies but that's all, because incident reports affect their KPI.

It's a vicious cycle, so it is not that bad to be a bully in Singapore.
