Today's Scripture Reading

contradicting bible

1 ) War or Peace?
EXO 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

ROM 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

2 ) God good to all, or just a few?
PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

3) Who is the father of Joseph?
MAT 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.

4) Who was at the Empty Tomb? Is it:
MAT 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

MAR 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

JOH 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

5) Is Jesus equal to or lesser than?
JOH 10:30 I and my Father are one.

JOH 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

6) Which first--beasts or man?
GEN 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
GEN 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

GEN 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
GEN 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

7) How many stalls and horsemen?
1KI 4:26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

2CH 9:25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

8) Is it folly to be wise or not?
PRO 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

ECC 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

1CO 1:19: "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

9) Human vs. ghostly impregnation
ACT 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

MAT 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

10 ) The sins of the father
ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

11) Rabbits do not chew their cud
LEV 11:6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

"Gerah," the term which appears in the MT means (chewed) cud, and also perhaps grain, or berry (also a 20th of a sheckel, but I think that we can agree that that is irrelevant here). It does *not* mean dung, and there is a perfectly adequate Hebrew word for that, which could have been used. Furthermore, the phrase translated "chew the cud" in the KJV is more exactly "bring up the cud." Rabbits do not bring up anything; they let it go all the way through, then eat it again. The description given in Leviticus is inaccurate, and that's that. Rabbits do eat their own dung; they do not bring anything up and chew on it.

12) Snails do not melt
PSA 58:8 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

13) Fowl from waters or ground?
GEN 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
GEN 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

GEN 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

14) Odd genetics
GEN 30:39 And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.

15) The shape of the earth
ISA 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

MAT 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

Astronomical bodies are spherical, and you cannot see the entire exterior surface from anyplace. The kingdoms of Egypt, China, Greece, Crete, sections of Asia Minor, India, Maya (in Mexico), Carthage (North Africa), Rome (Italy), Korea, and other settlements from these kingdoms of the world were widely distributed.

16) Snakes, while built low, do not eat dirt
GEN 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

17) Earth supported?
JOB 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

JOB 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Heaven supported too
JOB 26:11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

18) The hydrological cycle
ECC 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.

JOB 38:22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

Storehouses are not part of the cycle

19) Order of creation
Here is the order in the first (Genesis 1), the Priestly tradition:

Day 1: Sky, Earth, light
Day 2: Water, both in ocean basins and above the sky(!)
Day 3: Plants
Day 4: Sun, Moon, stars (as calendrical and navigational aids)
Day 5: Sea monsters (whales), fish, birds, land animals, creepy-crawlies (reptiles, insects, etc.)
Day 6: Humans (apparently both sexes at the same time)
Day 7: Nothing (the Gods took the first day off anyone ever did)

Note that there are "days," "evenings," and "mornings" before the Sun was created. Here, the Deity is referred to as "Elohim," which is a plural, thus the literal translation, "the Gods." In this tale, the Gods seem satisfied with what they have done, saying after each step that "it was good."

The second one (Genesis 2), the Yahwist tradition, goes:

Earth and heavens (misty)
Adam, the first man (on a desolate Earth)
Plants
Animals
Eve, the first woman (from Adam's rib)

20) How orderly were things created?
#1: Step-by-step. The only discrepancy is that there is no Sun or Moon or stars on the first three "days."
#2: God fixes things up as he goes. The first man is lonely, and is not satisfied with animals. God finally creates a woman for him. (funny thing that an omniscient god would forget things)

21 ) How satisfied with creation was he?
#1: God says "it was good" after each of his labors, and rests on the seventh day, evidently very satisfied.
#2: God has to fix up his creation as he goes, and he would certainly not be very satisfied with the disobedience of that primordial couple. (funny thing that an omniscient god would forget things)

22) Moses' personality
NUM 12:3: "Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the fact of the earth."

NUM 31:14, 17, 18: "And Moses was wroth...And Moses said unto them, "Have ye saved all the women alive? ... Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman, ... But all the women children ... keep alive for yourselves."

23) Righteous live?
PSA 92:12: "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree."

ISA 57:1: "The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart."

24 ) ACT 1:18: "Now this man (Judas) purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out."

MAT 27:5-7: "And he (Judas) cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. And the chief priests...bought with them the potter's field."

25) Jesus' first sermon plain or mount?
MAT 5:1,2: "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying...."

LUK 6:17,20: "And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people...came to hear him.. And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples and said..."

26) Jesus' last words
MAT 27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."

LUK 23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."

JOH 19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

27 ) Years of famine
II SAMUEL 24:13: So God came to David, and told him, and said unto him, shall SEVEN YEARS OF FAMINE come unto thee in thy land? or will thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue. thee?

I CHRONICLES 21:11: SO God came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee. Either THREE YEARS OF FAMINE or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee;

28 ) Moved David to anger?
II SAMUEL 24: And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

I CHRONICLES 21: And SATAN stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

29 ) The GENEALOGY OF JESUS?
In two places in the New Testament the genealogy of Jesus son of Mary is mentioned. MAT 1:6-16 and LUK 3:23-31. Each gives the ancestors of Joseph the CLAIMED husband of Mary and Step father of Jesus. The first one starts from Abraham(verse 2) all the way down to Jesus. The second one from Jesus all the way back to Adam. The only common name to these two lists between David and Jesus is JOSEPH, How can this be true? and also How can Jesus have a genealogy when all Muslims and most Christians believe that Jesus had/has no father.

30 ) God be seen?
EXO 24:9,10; AMO 9:1; GEN 26:2; and JOH 14:9
God CAN be seen:
"And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my backparts." (EXO 33:23)
"And the Lord spake to Moses face to face, as a man speaketh to his friend." (EXO 33:11)
"For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." (GEN 32:30)

God CANNOT be seen:
"No man hath seen God at any time." (JOH 1:18)
"And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me and live." (EXO 33:20)
"Whom no man hath seen nor can see." (1TIM 6:16)

31 ) CRUEL, UNMERCIFUL, DESTRUCTIVE, and FEROCIOUS or KIND, MERCIFUL, and GOOD:
"I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy." (JER 13:14) "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."

"The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy." (JAS 5:11)
"For his mercy endureth forever." (1CH 16:34)
"The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works." (PSA 145:9)
"God is love." (1JO 4:16)

32 ) Tempts?
"And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham." (GEN 22:1)

"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." (JAS 1:13)

33 ) Judas died how?
"And he cast down the pieces of silver into the temple and departed, and went out and hanged himself." (MAT 27:5)

"And falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all of his bowels gushed out." (ACT 1:18)

34 ) Ascend to heaven
"And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." (2KI 2:11)

"No man hath ascended up to heaven but he that came down from heaven, ... the Son of Man." (JOH 3:13)

35 ) What was Jesus' prediction regarding Peter's denial?
Before the cock crow - MAT 26:34

Before the cock crow twice - MAR 14:30

36 ) How many times did the cock crow?
MAR 14:72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

MAT 26:74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
MAT 26:75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

LUK 22:60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
LUK 22:61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

JOH 13:38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, still thou hast denied me thrice.

JOH 18:27 Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

37 ) How many beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount
MAT 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
MAT 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
MAT 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

LUK 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
LUK 6:23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

38 ) Does every man sin?
1KI 8:46 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

2CH 6:36 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man which sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away captives unto a land far off or near;

MAT 27:7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
MAT 27:8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

40 ) Who prophesied the potter's field?
MAT 27:9-10 (mentions Jeremy but no such verse in Jeremiah) is in Zechariah 11:12-13

christainity has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you ;)

...why arent you doing the will of your god like going out to 3rd world country to evangelize? ... .

You see, the problem with man is that we are very good (or rather horrible) in inventing words. In the Bible, there is no such thing as 3rd world. Jesus simple tells us to go and reach out to all the four corners of the world. One can be called to go to the '3rd world - frankly there is not such thing from the Bible perspective", some can go to the 'first world - also there is no such thing for the Bible perspective" and one can use the internet to reach out to the world. Again, the misconception is that evangelism in the 3rd world (just for definition sake - means those poor countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and China - China poor - you must be joking!) is much difficult than evangelising to 1st world countries (and again for definition sake, those rich countries like U.S., Britain). I bet to differ. I had been to the so-called 3rd world country to evangelise and I saw conversion of a whole family virtually overnight - parents, grandmothers, brother and they were baptized within few weeks of their conversion! On the other hand, when I when to first world country, you virtually feel very threaten when you tried to share Jesus with these rich-country people. You see, human are human. There are alot of misconceptions and only the Bible can put us on the right track. For this, Fishball - you get zero mark! The so-called 3rd world countries people are easier to evangelise and when you go there, many of them treat you like king. This is one of the reasons why I avoid going to these so-called 3rd world countries. They also wanted to treat me like king! But when you go to the first world countries, they can treat you like dirt and you can feel very threatened. I have been and have evangelism to both the these 'worlds' - the 1st and the 3rd worlds. So, I know you going to change your nasty rebuke - then go to the first world countries and evangelise. You see - this is how fallen man argue out about things concerning God. When you lost the total perspective of who Jesus is and what Bible is all about, we can simply rebuke and argue for the sake of arguing. Jesus came to reconcile us to God so that we can be restored to our place in His heavenly kingdom. Period!

Have you and Drifter done the research on some chinese characters why there are so many of these characters that depict the Bible stories - e.g. the word Temple, why there are two crosses in this word). I believe you don't dare to do it because it will scare both of you out of your guts, and who knows you may then start to repent and ask God for forgiveness. Anyway, no one can convince you or convict you to accept Jesus except by the Holy Spirit Himself.

God Bless

stupid fuck , you also trusted your pastor words ( your pastor not human ? ) . you also trusted a bible written by a human ...theres no cure in delusion ;) thankyou for showing us a good example of your stupidness ;)

Trust pastors - you must be joking. The answer is no. Psalm 118:8-8 - Trust only God and not man or princeses. Trust Bible written by human - you must be joking too. No! God is the Author and every word is God-inspirted!

By the way, there is no such word "Christainty" in the Bible. Though it is in the dictionary but that does not mean I must subscribe to what the dictionary writers diffined. They are human and we cannot trust them what and how they defined. For me, Christainity (though not in the Bible but respectfully I will still use it but on my own definition) is not a religion. It is about God establishing His relationship with fallen man.

When we introduce Jesus and the Gospel of Jesus to others, we are not introducing another religion. Rather, we are introducing someone to accept a personal relationship with the Creator. This is no difference, say, you are single and wanted to get a life-partner, and your friend introduces someone to you, that too cannot be a religion. Of course, in our case, the Person we introduce is none other than our Creator whom, sadly, many still don't know Him! That's why we need to introduce and the term we use here is known as envangelism which is not to spread Christianity but to embark on the mission to introduce God, the Creator to other people. And in the case of human relation, a single man will be introduced to a single lady to him and a single lady will be introduced to a single man to her. It's so simple. And Christianity is that simple. It is not a religion. Another question is why people don't know God. Answer is simple: We are living in this Satan-control world and Satan is trying every effort - and with much success - to prevent people from knowing who the Creator is. Worst, Satan is using people and his angels to tell others that there is no such thing as Creator and that we all evolved from lower level animals, something like from a monkey. That's why we see so many monkey arguements here by many people who, quite a few - including renouned scientists have admitted that they are evolved from the lower-level animals or beasts. So, it is up to you to decide whether you have evolved from lower level animal or beast or whether you are created by God and are the product of God's handiwork. The choice is yours. Have you made up your decision. Looks like you have. I have too - and my is: I am God's created handwork! How about yours?

God bless.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful . you are indeed a common person . by the way do you keep hearing voices in your head ;) ( why do you go church every sunday conducted by pastor , and you are telling us you dont believe in pastor ? ) . your invisibleman is the author of that little dirty book ? dont make us laugh for your stupidlity . you should learn more about your cult .

" By the way, there is no such word "Christainty" in the Bible. Though it is in the dictionary but that does not mean I must subscribe to what the dictionary writers diffined " of course you will not believe in anyone or anything except your own cult even though there proof to show you ( facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored ) ...the fact that a stupid believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one ..well done ;) the church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for i have seen the shadow on the moon, and i have more faith in a shadow than in the church and now you want to start about monkey ? your dont even know the world is round ;) extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence ;)

we must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes . but since you ARE SO STUPID EVEN TO THINK ...i forgive you ;)

PS : I still say a church steeple with a lightning rod on top shows a lack of confidence ..afraid the church kena strike by lighting ;)

God Bless

whahahahaa ...got to take my hats off your delusion ;) . don't pray in my school, and I won't think in your church ;)

wow...cool you are trying to spread stupidlity across the world ;)

PS: You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep-seated need to believe !!!;)the invisible and the non-existent look very much alike ;)

.. I had been to the so-called 3rd world country to evangelise and I saw conversion of a whole family virtually overnight - parents, grandmothers, brother and they were baptized within few weeks of their conversion! On the other hand, when I when to first world country, you virtually feel very threaten when you tried to share Jesus with these rich-country people. ...

Psalm23

that is because religion can only appeal to people with little or no educational background or training in critical thinking. they are struggling on a regular basis to find food, shelter and safety. they wont ask for evidences, proofs, most are very gullible. that is why religions can only "market" down but not up. studies have shown that organized religions will disappear in 9 major western countries.. alot of church buildings in australia are being sold off due to falling number of members.

if you argue that religious people are more gracious, then i beg to differ. bill gates, warren buffet and other billionaires are giving away their massive wealth to help the 3rd world countries. doctors without borders, unicef, unesco are some of the major organisations that contribute and help the poor with no expectation of religious conversion, even the red cross knows that. we all know what religious missions want to achieve, right? yes, faith conversion...

chinese characters?! bah humbug...! this remind me of those chaps that saw the picture of jesus or mary in their coffee, toast or table cloth's stain!

sorry, but my iq wont allow me to succumb to such cheap trickery.. i went to chromosome #2, read up on abiogenesis, theory of everything and the whole motherload... chinese character? ha.. i saw those cheap justifications before in my ex-church.. just like that chinese word of "lai2" (come) where is a cross in the middle and two "ren2" at the sides. pleeeeeease.

if you have so much faith, then why seek medical attention? why use the medicine that science has provided? it was proven that ades mosquitoes killed half of the world's population, can god allow that?

can god massacred/drowned the whole world just for 8 people?

by the way, hitler had written in his journals; mein krumpf, that he exalted the aryans race and denounce homos, blacks and jews. and the vatican was in cohort with him!

Hmmnn, you are right and also wrong. God did create everything, including hell - you are perfectly correct to say this. But you are dead wrong - He didn't create hell for true believers like me because He loves His believers who are His children sooooooooo much that He would never send them to hell. Instead hell is created for people like you - and I am assuming you continue to live to hate God until the day your life expired. Still you have the chance to avoid going to hell only if you accept Him as your Saviour, otherwise, sorry, hell is created for you and not for us believers. A more appropriate question you should ask is: God is so loving, then why He created hell for me? Answer is simple: Just go and ask Him yourself because no one can ask on your behalf, not even your pastor, your preist or your parents. For me, I can only thank Him that in spite of all my sinfulness, He has created a wonderful heavenly kingdom for me. All I need is just to thank Him day and night.

Psalm23 - The Lord is my Shepherd!

you are side stepping the issue again simply because you have no answers to all the questions being.
can you just answer these question directly ?
1] you said god created heaven and hell and those believe in jesus will go to heaven, then how about adam , eve , moses ,abraham etc , all these people
born before jesus existed , they all go to hell ?
2] you said "god is so loving ,then why He created hell for me? ........."
you are so biased that you cannot even see the conflict of you statement. how can a loving and kind person or god do something that's is bad for other ?
when you have no answer , you simply said go and ask god.

3] here is another thing that you said : . . . . .and I am assuming you continue to live to hate God until the day your life expired. "
i would like to correct your great mistake. in the first place we do not hate your god , we are just discussing and debating about something
called christianity. so may used strong words or bad languages but we certainly have no hate against something that does not exist. we do not eve n hate
you and your kind , we have nothing against you. what we trying to do is to reason with you based on logic and proof.
but your ego is too big to accept anything.

You are right. I don't have all the answers to your question. I am sure you don't have answers to all the questions either. For that matter, no one has all the answers to all the questions. Only God does.

Again, let me say it one more time: Hell is created not for me but for unrepented sinners who refused to accept Jesus as their Saviour. Did Adam, Eve, Moses, Abraham go to heaven. I am no God, so I don't know. But a point of correction, Jesus, being the Second Person in the Trinity, existed even before the world was created. God's dealing with man came in two main stages - one before He became human flesh and one after He became human flesh. These histories are told in the Old Testament (for those people whom He dealt with them before God became human flesh) and in New Testament (for those people - you and me - who He dealth with them after He born into the human race). Two different stages of God' history. In the New Testament period - that is after the Birth, Death and Resurrection of Jesus - God has made is easier (but not easy) for us. We are still sinners but the sacrificial blood of Jesus is the source upon which we can atone our sin. We are still sinner but God has accepted the death of His Son as our substitute and so we can be acceptable to Him. To say I have accept Jesus and to continue to live a unrepented live for worshipping idols, for cheating people, etc is a reflection that you have not accepted Jesus. Signing a pledge card as some pastors have told their church members to do like: I agree that Jesus is my Saviour is a vain pursuit to His kingdom. We don't need to sign anything. God just want us to turn our heart towards Him and only God can know about where our true heart is. No one can.

Another analogy: As a good judge doesn't mean he has to overlook (or he can overlook) all crimes and let all criminals go unpunished. Even the most compassionate judge will punish criminals - however good and wise a judge can be. So, even God is good, He will still need to punish sinners. To tell people, God is so good; no problem; just go and do what you want - steal, rape, cheat, etc....; at the end God is good; He will not punish you. Yes - this type of message is pleasing to some people's ears (I mean those people who make stealing, raping, cheating as their way of life) but certainly cannot be pleasing to those who are law-abiding. So which category of people are you: First or the two group. From your writting, looks like you belong to the first category. I don't mean you steal, rape, or cheat but you could be one of those who condoned those evil practices and still say God is so good because at the end, you still can go to heaven. Or are you really one of those that belongs to the first group? No confession needed because only God knows.

God bless

Psalm23

Today’s Scripture Reading [January 1, 2012]

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. [Matthew 21:21. KJV]

Reading Bible is one thing and interpreting what God has to tell you is another thing. Often, we are confronted by Bible critics that question the authority of the Bible. Many, if not most of these critics will simply extract one or two verses from the Bible and started their “atheistic and agnostic commentary” without any real substance.

As Bible-believing Christians, we must hold strongly to our faith and our belief that the Bible is an (or rather the) unique book that has ever written; every word in the Bible is written by God or God-inspired; and the Bible is final authority of how the world has began and how the world would be ended. More importantly, we must fully subscribe to the gospel truth that Jesus, the God of the Bible came in human flesh two thousand years’ ago to change the unchangeable: To redeem man to the original state that God has always wanted and to eventually reconcile man to God and live into eternality.

As we move into the New Year, it is important that as true Bible-believing Christians we must continue to stand in strong in our faith in our God. As we can read in Matthew 21:21, faith is what we need to remove the ‘mountains’ of our lives. The mountains of our lives could be in the forms of our financial distress, relationship or marital problems, problems of our health or that of our loved ones and close friends, problems in upbringing our children and so on. And who doesn’t have these ‘mountains’ which can so overwhelm us that we began to losing our faith. But we know Jesus care and if we sincerely believe that we can remove our ‘mountains of lives’ and cast them into the depth of the sea, it shall be done. The word "mountain' is used as figure of speech by many people who are faced with unsurmountable problems. We heard phrases like he is now drown with "mountain of debt', or his employer is giving him "mountain of problems". Sadly, many Bible critics will tell you that the word "mountain" as told by Jesus in Mathew 21:21 was physical mountain. If we read in the right context, Jesus was teaching His disciples to be faithful and not to lose sight of their faith no matter what problems they had encountered. Some critics instead have chosen just to extract this verse, ridiculed and perverted the true teaching by in Matthew 21:21 “……… ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” They will just yell and say: “It’s geologically impossible!” Of course, we all knew that it’s impossible (actually no really – because a very strong earthquake can flatten mountains!). The danger is that when we read the Bible and start to interpret the Bible in absolute literal form, it can get nasty and that’s why we see so many nasty Bible critics around choosing to pervert the word of God. Especially in the New Testament, many of God’s messages are taught to us in the form of parables and also by using figurative terms like the one we read in Matthew 21:21.

Another good example of can be seen in the Old Testament book, the Book of Esther. This is the only Book in the Bible that does not mention the name of God. Because of this we also find some nasty critics came out with their own theory that Bible cannot be God-inspired otherwise why should there be a Book that does not mention the name of God, after Bible is all about God. Of course, these nasty critics are nastily wrong in their theory. The story that we read in the Book of Esther is about God’s providence for the nation of Israel and it is extremely important that the nation of Israel and the race of Jew must be preserved because the promised Messiah to save the world had to come from a seed of Abraham who was a Jewish. This is one of the key themes throughout the Old Testament and the Book of Esther gives us a very clear view of behind-the-scenes at the ongoing struggle of Satan against the purposes of God, especially Satan’s opposition of the promised Messiah. The entrance of Christ into the human race was predicated upon the existence of the Jewish race. Though the name of God was not mentioned but that does not make the Book any less scriptural. It fact, the Book of Esther is God’s historical record with divine purpose – that is that the nation of Israel and the Jewish race must be preserved. Modern history has proved the fulfillment of this prophecy when the world heard the United Nation on May 14th 1948 officially proclaimed Israel as a country. It was a miracle witnessed in modern history because the nation of Israel was destroyed almost 2000 years ago in A.D. 70 and yet, overnight it came back and became a nation again! There is no such event in the world history, never, ever, other than the nation of israel because God has planned it and nothing on one can change the history of the world when God Himself is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Today is the first day of 2012 and we see there are quite a few news articles sharing and advising people how to keep to their resolutions because some people seem to have the habit of making new resolutions at the start of a new year. Thankfully, many of the resolutions that people made are related to removing some character and disciplinary weaknesses such as: “I will make 2012 as a year to remove all my smoking urge” or “I will make 2012 as a year that I will never step into the casino again.” Though these resolutions are extremely encouraging because they indicate to us that there are people trying very hard to live a godly life, but, sadly, we all know that often our weaknesses are much ‘stronger’ than we could imagine. Ironically, we often underestimated our weaknesses and overestimated our strengths! For some people, their weaknesses have become their ‘pillar and tower of sorrows’ bringing many miseries not only to themselves but to their family members and even close friends. People have made resolutions but failed time and again, some have become cynics to the extend that the joked to their friends who attempt to make resolutions by telling them: “Resolutions are meant to be broken! Don’t waste your time and efforts!” We hate to break our resolutions but looking at the number of news articles on this topic, we know that keeping resolutions are not easy – certainly not easy when we tried to keep them by our own efforts. We need God’s help to keep us to walk the right paths and that including breaking our weaknesses of the lust of our eyes, lust of our flesh, and pride of life. You may have new resolutions but more importantly, let the New Year 2012 also be the year that we can start to learn and understand the Bible the way God wants us to learn. Let this be the year that we can begin to trust God to interpret His message for us. Thankfully, there are a lot of very good resources from the Internet and you can get very good commentaries and sermons by good Christian leaders, pastors, teachers, theologians and workers that can help us understand the word of God, the Bible. (Just a word of cautious that we must take note of: There are also many false preachers and teachers that pervert God’s word. We must therefore pray for God’s discernment of what we read and what we hear and the best way is to check the Bible of what we read and what we hear – including the messages posted here!) We must know that our body is the temple of God (1 Corinthians 6:19). This is a great privilege for us because we don’t need to go to any temple to worship. Remember, any worship that is devoid of the Cross of Jesus will be ended in vain. Even though Chinese language was invented many years ago even before the death of Christ who was hung on the cross, yet the Chinese character “Temple” has prophetically depicted the true nature of what a Temple is: A temple without the Cross of Jesus is no temple. Not one, but two crosses are contained in this Chinese character.

May His Holy Scripture and the Life of Jesus be our roadmap in 2012 and all the year that is to come!

Psalm23

did the judge ever said that he created you , loves you even though he punished punish you for the crime ? did the judge self-praise even he punish you for the crime ? did the judge say hes going to send you to hell for not believing in him ? you are comparing apples with oranges again . your really know how to snake away your stupidlity . but ppl here are not stupid not to see how you argue for the sake of arguing . a question thrown out often in debate between Christians and atheists is "If you can't explain the origin of the universe and the origin of life then why don't you just believe in God?" it is often followed up with, "doesn't it make more sense to believe in God because all those questions are answered in the Bible. all science has is theories but the Bible has the Truth."

i have answered this question so frequently about why the lack of complete, exact and perfect explanations of the origin of life and the universe do not make it seem logical for me to just believe in God instead of seeking the real answers.
i accept the fact that i don't know the answers to the questions of how exactly the universe came about and how exactly, life came to be. there are many good, scientific theories supported by tangible evidence. it seems likely that eventually, scientists will come closer to answering such big questions as the origin of life and the universe with a great degree of accuracy and certainty.
demanding an absolute answer right now is much like asking a child to explain exactly how a rocket flies to the moon with complete technical details. the child does not know the answer but it doesn't mean he never will or never can. nor does it mean that if the child said, "god makes the rocket go to the moon" he'd be correct. as a race, we are still children; your question is just a little too far beyond us as yet. so my answer is that i accept that i am not all-knowing.
only through reason will we find the beautiful truth. imagination is great but it doesn't compare to reality.
the wonder and power of reality is so great i am a little saddened by those who think they already have the explanations for everything in a tidy package called god. life isn't tidy and easily understood. it's messy and strange and mysterious. one tiny shred at a time we're figuring it out, tiny bits of truth are stacking up.
i don't think you need to know what caused the universe to exist to say " i don't believe the universe was created by magic." historically, everything people have claimed to be caused by magic has turned out to have a logical explanation. people used to think that maggots just came out of raw meat and turned into flies by magic. later we learned that flies laid eggs in the meat which hatched into maggots that turned into flies, no magic involved, just flies laying eggs. people once believed that illness came from demons inhabiting the body or as punishment from God for their sins. we learned that illnesses are caused by germs, exposure to harmful elements, parasites, genetic problems and various other things unrelated to demons or gods. people used to think that lightning and thunder had something to do with gods throwing temper tantrums; they blamed them on magic. we now know that there are rational explanations (involving no angry Gods) that explain thunder and lightning.
we have yet to reach the pinnacle of knowledge and i doubt there even is such a thing. we don't know everything, we probably won't ever know everything but we are learning. just because we don't have all the answers it doesn't mean we have to accept an illogical answer like "it's magic" or "god did it." just because there is a question there is not always a ready answer and even if there is an answer it may never be found in our lifetimes. it's OK to admit ignorance, especially when every human that ever lived shares that ignorance. ;)

contradicting bible

ACT 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

MAT 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." (JAS 1:13)

33 ) Judas died how?

gods only make sense to the senseless ...religion is the root of all evil. without it, there would be one less thing for humankind to fight over. in 2012, let's strive to have less religion in the world .

May His Holy Scripture and the Life of Jesus be our roadmap in 2012 and all the year that is to come!

whole wall of text and fairly indepth, i must say that you are a full time workers at a church organization. of course you want to defend it to the max as your rice bowl is dependent on it.

i dont see any logical arguments from you to defend the existence of god nor the validity of the bible, i have not read a single post from you that talk about the formation of the codex, council of Nicene, early church infighting, different band of beliefs etc.. all you did is playing with semantics.. mountain...literally or metaphorically.. pttfff.

Psalm23, you have lost big time in the argument. we can gather facts from journals, knowledges, facts and many other findings from the "heathen" universities, reputable research organisations, and authors with great insights and depth to counteract your claims. But you only can fall back onto the bible, a religious book that was written by goat herders 3 thousand years ago, pale by today's standard.

the only thing left is to obfuscate the readers and play with jargons in hope to throw the scent off-course. Very cunning.

that was your triumph card; to ask the readers to cast away all reasonings, all logics, all facts and believe with absolutely no supporting proofs, ... faith.. my ass, more like snake oil a.k.a. placebo effect..

God bless

Psalm23
you said : You are right. I don't have all the answers to your question. I am sure you don't have answers to all the questions either. For that matter, no one has all the answers to all the questions. Only God does.

you are dead Wrong , I DO HAVE THE ANSWER. but i don't need an answer to this kind of question because in the first place this question don't apply to me
as i don't believe in your god.

you are giving wrong analogy , comparing god and a judge who is a human. how can you compare a human and a god that you said is all powerful and a
creator. have you committed blasphemy ?

by the way , not all human are sinners , only in your deluded world of a creator god that you called everyone sinner. that's why i see those stout die-hard kristain always put up an air of snobbish as if they are a world apart from those non believers.

you said : To tell people, God is so good; no problem; just go and do what you want - steal, rape, cheat, etc....; at the end God is good; He will not punish you. Yes - this type of message is pleasing to some people's ears (I mean those people who make stealing, raping, cheating as their way of life) but certainly cannot be pleasing to those who are law-abiding.

the fallacy with this statement is that first you created a god who created everything ,then you need other humans to believe in this god you have
created , so you come up with the idea of salvation through a third person , like jesus.
when asked why a powerful and kind god created hell for non believer , you have no answer but instead you give example of rapist and murderers
and it is not fair to those law abiding people.

ok , let me ask you this :
you claimed that god exist and he created everything , yes or no ?
so in the beginning there is only a single being called god , right or wrong?
you also claimed that you god is perfect , right or wrong?
and your god has existed since beginning of time , even before he created the earth and humans , yes or no ?
now this question :
so you have a god that is powerful and existing alone all by himself ,perhaps for trillions of countless years , then how
come all of a sudden he decided to create the earth , the sun , the planets , humans , animals , etc etc ?
it does not make sense , right or not ?
he feel lonely is it ?

hi wrcboi,
in my opinion it is ok to refute psalm23 or anyone else with logic and discuss and share till the cows come home. However the last bit is not fair to him and i think you know it.
Hit us with arguments but not this kind of thing unless you know it for a fact.

i went thru the same phase of life as what psalm23 did.. everything is bible, bible, nothing but the bible.. any heathen questions are rejected straight away and considered evil, devious, unclean. and in sg's lifestyle, u cant afford the "luxury" of time to sit and think this thru'. well, after i moved to australia and having my work finishes at 4pm (hurray!), i have heaps of time on my hand, and i began to thrawl thru' the net to look for answers and invest my time to study about science, my most passionate subjects. and slowly and slowly, i found answers bits and pieces here.. and slowly i build up the knowledges. i also mixed around with some of the greater minds in my office; people from UK and australia... smart scholars that dare to ask any questions that cannot be thought off (most are considered heretic!).

really, one must travel to expand one's horizon. sorry, im very sua ku to begin with. so please pardon my unnecessary jubilee when i found something so common and insignificant. :P

hi FB, i really believe that any and all questions should be asked. In fact i have heard it being said somewhere that the stupidest question is the one that was never asked.
No pastor, evangelist , preacher or whoever should mind sincere questions being asked.
Jesus Himself answered all of Pilate's questions. He didnt answer Herod's because it was clear to Him that Herod was asking with a view to mock, unlike Pilate who had asked honest questions. So in actuality the Church , cell grp etc should not consider any honest questions ' heathen ' and should try to address them
My colleagues and the friend i had mentioned on the other thread occasionally ask me questions on the Bible and how they relate to certain events eg the tsunami/earthquake. I try to answer them as best as i can but my knowledge is limited so i cannot answer satisfactorily.
On their part they are very understanding. They ask, we discuss and then it ends amicably.
Of course i do pray for them but i do respect the path they have chosen to take.
