Yes Coz I'm one of them. You're looking at this from a anti-PAP point of view. I see it from a more neutral perspective. Why the hell am I voting for the guy I've not even heard of. I need to go down and see for myself

I can give you another good example. Before the debate on Sat. A lot of support was going on in PP about how Lina Chiam will get the goodwill vote that will push her into MP status. After the debate, everyone is talking about doom for PP and asking for Chiam to step back in. I refuse to vote for anyone without listening to what they have to say first

you are so negative about opps and you are telling us you are neutral perspective ? let me ask you a simple question ..would you vote for opps party and let them try out for a few years before you give out your negative view about them ?

Chen Show Mao is a partner of Davis Polk & Wardwell, one of the leading law firms in the world. He manages the China practice of Davis Polk based in Beijing, and has extensive experience in large complex international securities offerings as well as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions in greater China.
He advised the Agricultural Bank of China on its recent US$22 billion initial public offering (IPO), which was the largest IPO in history. He also advised the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) on its US$21 billion IPO, which was the second-largest IPO in history, and the first-ever global share offering that included a concurrent listing in China, as well as China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) on its proposed US$19 billion acquisition of Unocal, the largest attempted takeover of an overseas target by a Chinese company. He also completed the global IPOs of Air China, China Construction Bank, China Unicom, Metallurgical Corp. of China, Sinopec, as well as offerings by the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Outside of China, Show Mao has completed international securities offerings and M&A transactions by companies such as Acer, ASE, Asus, AU Optronics, BHP, Foxconn, Freeport-McMoran, HTC, Quanta, TSMC and UMC, financial institutions such as JP Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanley, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Republic of China (ROC).
He has also worked with sovereign wealth funds such as The China Investment Corporation (CIC), the Development Fund of the ROC and also advised the Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan Stock Exchanges on proposed regulations.
Before he began full-time practice as a corporate lawyer, Show Mao worked at a number of research institutions such as Ralph Nader’s Centre for Study of Responsive Law (CSRL), the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and the Research & Planning and Enforcement divisions of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
He is a Rhodes Scholar, and an alumnus of Harvard, Oxford and Stanford Universities. While at Stanford, he was awarded the prize for the best paper in law and economics.
As a student in Singapore, Show Mao studied at Nanyang Primary School, Catholic High School and Anglo-Chinese School. He was the president of the students’ council at National Junior College and was top student in Singapore for the 1979 “A” level examinations.
During NS, Show Mao served as an infantry platoon commander at the Fifth Singapore Infantry Regiment (5SIR) and as Brigade Adjutant, or DYS1, at the headquarters of the Third Singapore Infantry Brigade (3SIB).
While pursuing his career overseas, Show Mao has kept in touch with Singapore. Since 2007, he has served as a member of the Singapore Management University (SMU) Law School Advisory Board, which comprises leading lawyers and judges in Singapore and is chaired by former Chief Justice Yong Pung How.
