It's true, those who are born Christians usually see Christianity as just another aspect of life. Those who are new converts see Christianity as THE aspect of life.
Upon reflection, when I was studying in Australia, it's the same thing too. My Singaporean friends are generally the ones evangelizing Christianity, and the my other English, Jap, German friends are also evangelizing to me... to hit the pubs or smoke a joint. Needless to say, the latter was very much preferred (I hear shouts of "heretic!").
However, the reason why you might single out the Singaporean Christian Convert as being overzealous is because you are Singaporean too, and therefore they feel more comfortable breaching that topic with you.
Caucasians usually think we practise some esoteric Buddhist religion, knows kung-fu like Bruce Lee, and only eat with chopsticks. That to evangelize to us they need culture-transcendental balls, or risk a chop in the neck.
From what I notice, however, Singaporeans have no lives, and Christianity gives them the perfect excuse to show they got a life. Overseas Singaporean students especially, fall prey easily to the idea of joining a church. What else gives them so easily an expanded social circle, a purpose in life, and most importantly, in anthropological terms, a tribe to belong to?
Too many reasons, this discourse could go on forever. Fingers tired, work's ending, but keep the flow going mate.
