Thio Su Mien Bizzarre Behaviour at RTC Press Conference

Thanks Bro. Yes, a good article and not the rubbish and the rojak that came from Paul Jacob. It tells you that good pieces can come out from Toa Payoh when the choke collar is off.

Some of the references are definitely aimed at Thio family specifically. I think that the government must be pissed and alarmed that even after these religious nutcase won in the decrimilization of gay sex debate; it is still not good enough for their pathological minds.

Aware saga: A new militancy emerges
Chua Mui Hoong, Senior Writer

Tolerance is critical in the public sphere in a multi-religious society

There is another good piece on the far reaching effects of this AWARE saga in Weekend Today by Terence Chong, which delves on the rise of the Christian right etc...perhaps someone could paste it in here?

Yeah! What's this about these Singaporean Christians and their pushy attitude?

There is actually a law against this kind of behaviour in the UK. You get the sack and your company gets sued for lots of $$$. One isn't even allowed to enquire about a prospective employee's religious preference.

right on. these Christianist messages into schools under the pretence of a secular sexuality education package is something the government has to look into. ALL non religious organizations should be secular otherwise when a muslim or taoist person seek help from aware, they could be easily be brainwash into these Christianist views esp when they are already so vulnerable. talking about taking advantage of people when they are down. they are no better than the Taliban. The glare of scrutiny by the govt now that DPM has spoken will be intense. If you read betw the lines there would be fireworks from the govt soon.

Agree bro. My sources tell me the same - no banking or financial background just marketing and she was brought in as chief conceirge for card program.

Yeah, people at DBS tell me Josie is a tai tai wannabe
Not a serious banker at all
She appears to have some backing or would have been canned over that "Focus on the Family" PR debacle.

I've been reading your contributions to this thread
You have very good sources!
keep up the good work

Last time I went for an interview. While waiting for the interviewer, I took a glance at their notice board and noticed it was full of X'tian related activities/ announcements.

Although my potential boss and environment seems nice enough, I decided to turn them down. Spider sense tingling like hell ...

Good spider sense!
I'm always being pestered to attend prayer meetings at New Creation Church, City Harvest, etc...
I've yet to receive an invite to a Buddhist temple
These over zealous people are giving Christians a bad name

Dear Lon

Apparently VP Josie runs a department of two :_))). Well I believe that qualifies her to run a national organization or was she chosen for her relationship and her ideological purity. ?

Locke

You keep yourself very well informed Locke!
I find that DBS Chaps are pretty happy to talk about Josie despite an unofficial gag order put out by mgt.
Josie must be very proud being a 48 year old VP in a landscape littered with 35 year old Directors and 47 year old CEOs. I guess she fancies herself qualified to run AWARE given her "vast achievements" in life.

Cheers

Hey I thought that is an ideal background to be a private banker...not talking about the likes of Tan Su Shan;)

Here is a sample of what's expected of good private bankers:

1. To be trusted advisors who add value to the wealth management process

2. Must understand the client's profile, source of wealth, wealth creation process, ownership structure and family dynamics.

3. Need to focus on developing skill sets that would set them apart from others and help them build long term relationships with their clients ie. it's not enough to parrot the stuff that your research dept puts out!

4. Should take the time to acquire in-depth knowledge of their clients' business and industry to better appreciate and relate to their concerns. Also expected to monitor their clients' portfolio diligently and update them even when things went wrong.

That's too much real work for Josie to handle. She's challenged enough trying to be an aspiring tai tai.

Tan Su-Shan?
Now that's an impressive banker
She was a head of private banking at 38 (is now about 42 I think) - Josie is a 48 yr old VP in cubicle land
She achieved all that on top of being a mother and a good Christian (not the militant kind).
And she still manages to look so elegant! Real eye candy!

The main problem with Christians is that they are supposedly called upon to evangelize by their church.

Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age." - Matthew 28:19

Alot of Christians I know would rather just keep their faith to themselves. Their church are the ones that encourage active evangelism (their pastors probably had an eye on the new BMW or something), and therefore throw this line at them.

For a Christian, you are essentially caught in a Catch-22 situation. If you don't evangelize, you are disobeying the orders of your Lord. If you do, what constitutes fair evangelism?

Christianity and Islam are the active religions of our ages, stemming from their roots of origins in militant times. The rest of the religions are essentially open-door religions, whereas this two will try to drag you, kicking and screaming if need be, through that door.

Tan Su Shan, give me a break, that woman is a sarong party girl married to an ang moh Englishman. She was dabbling with ang mohs all her life since her student days in UK & also when she was posted in HK. People think highly of her cos they think she married to ang moh so therefore got rich connections.

Anyway what is so great about Shitty Bank Bank where she works, its going the way of the dodo bird since it is an American bank.

You seem to be off tangent in your posts with allusions to TS (and others in threads elsewhere) on their waistlines. Maybe obtuse reflection of your own obese genes?

Pls re-look at your bathroom scales, probably skewed too.

the religion's teaching is true. it's the people who are problematic and hypocritical.

the bible preaches: love your neighbours, love your enemies....love, love, love

the people preach: love my money, love your money...love anyone's money.....money, money, money......:p

The issue is primarily with converts and born again chaps and its not confined to christianity. They have committed vountarily with a certain cause and they find it necessary to justify that it the right decision. Its not only in religion but in many aspects of life such as saving the whale, veganism etc.

The Muslim converts association is another firebrand until MUIS had to tell them to hold their horses.

It has always been difficult for the man in the street to overcome his ego and admit that they are somethimes wrong especially if they made the choice in the first place. The cell setup which is central to converts and born again chaps tends to be rigid preventing independent thought.

I know a chap who loves to bait born again christians because they tend to be dogmatic and irrational and he would ask very clear black and white questions and they all fall in.

Do to someone born into the religion and the responeses will be quite different.

The problem is, there is no Muslim or Islamic evangelism here, only that from Christians. And the Moslem or Muslim clerics here would tell their followers that actually Christianity and Islam are the same. But NOT from the mouths of Chinese Christian pastors here.

It is better and more dignified to pledge allegiance with moderate and sincere followers of Allah than biased, hypocritical and discriminating followers of God.

Christianity is filthy, nothing proud to be one. Islam is more sincere and divine.
