Vivian was a President’s Scholar and, prior to politics, he was active in a variety of involvements ranging from debates, hosting the televised Singapore 21 series to becoming the presenter of health education programmes in the 90s. He was a vocal critic of the PAP government prior to joining politics but was actually “converted” by Minister Lim Swee Say. Thus, Vivian holds Lim Swee Say is very high esteem and respect in all matters.

Dr Vivian probably has one of the most portfolios in the history of Singapore Government

Once upon a time, Vivian Balakrishnan was among a group of PAP candidates which was termed the “super-seven” by the local mainstream media. In the 2001 General Elections, then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong had introduce the seven - Khaw Boon Wan, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Dr Balaji Sadasivan, Raymond Lim and Cedric Foo.

Immediately after that elections, Vivian Balakrishnan, who was said to be a critic of the government before he joined the ruling party, was made Minister of State for National Development in 2002.

Following this, he was given numerous positions in the next few years........

Does Vivian have any brothers or sisters ? Are the relatives involved in the government's commercial machinery ?

He was told that if he toes the line ...he will gross $68 million over his lifetime. How many sinkees can have this much by taking NO risk?

No offense...but, is that why the older generation of ours call people like him "chao hei"?? translated as "Smelly prawns"?? beginning to see why.

When I read this that he was converted by none other than clown-pastor Zorro Lim, any last traces of my respect for him went out the window. Zorro? Famous for his betterer, fasterer, and cheaperer? What language did Zorro use? chinese?

Man, this is no SHIT!

if I recalled correctly, VB wasn't converted by that Lim SS.
That Zorror Lim doesn't have that sort of "IQ+EQ" to garner the respect of VB who is a scholar.

It was woody GCT that converted him into and bought him to the dark side of Sillypore politics.
GCT during his era as PM has done a lot of shit to local Sillyporeans.

Sounds like a Star Wars plot with the Emperor turning Anakin Skywalker to the dark side :D

this nigger vivian with his long pinocchio beak nose and fucked up policies. Well thank god he isn't exactly chinese so chinese dogs won't flame him if he was a pure bred chinese.

Zorro Lim convinced chup cheng that the best way to influence the gov is to initiate the change from within. It ended up the other way.

Every mother and his dog all claim they want to change the system from within - the most renowned of which is of course our own mother's boy MOM's Overtime Tan. Seduced by $$$, sold to the devil. Period.

Debaters of his low level end up with lawsuits that make them beggars in all parts of the world except here and North Korea.
