The Best Movie U Ever Watched

hi there

1. my take: star wars.
2. 2nd choice: gone with the wind thing!

My fav scene from 神探 is Kelly riding pillion on Lau Ching-Wan's motorbike.

It was bittersweet.

:D

I need to watch this someday.
Just watched "Fulltime Killer" for the first time on tv recently. Mio tv offering free preview of old movies. :o
The best part about this movie is Kelly running and jumping around in a dress. :D

Red Sorghum - directed by Zhang YiMou and star Gong Li

I like those movie that people would fall asleep watching, sending a slow and powerful message.

Me also Zhang Yimou's fansee. This is my favourite. >>>>

My favourite horror movie was The Exorcist... As a school boy, I remembered my older brother renting the tape from the video rental shop downstairs.. The scene when the young girl got possesed scared the shit out of me.. :o
The British horror film 28 Days Later directed by Danny Boyle was also one of my favourite horror movie... Then there is also the comedy film Shaun Of The Dead.. The Bloody Brits really got this knack of producing great movies on a limited budget..

Basic Instinct

Max, why are you hiding behind a new nick? :D

That was a good show. Never seen Michael Douglas so frustrated.

sharon stone crossing and uncrossing her legs to reveal her cb was permanently etched into the moviegoer's mind. a lot of wet dreams ensued.

In the days of the LD, it was not so easy to capture the precise moment.

One of the fav is Rave Fever (1999) from HK. reminds me of my younger days. :)
Story will derail till the last part, when the truth is out.

Goodfellas another Mafia movie starring Robert De Niro was also one of my favourites... Any movie with De Niro in it would turn out to be a classic... Who can forget Robert De Niro's famous words in his Taxi Driver movie...

His earlier movies were mostly classics.
Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter, Godfather II, all among my favourites.
His later movies not so much, e.g. Meet The Fockers I and II. :o

No offense to believers and non-believers, me just a free sinner. In my younger days (when my hair still wet), got dragged by 1st gf to watch this Webber/Rice classic Jesus Christ Superstar (rock opera on celluloid). Showing then at opening of Golden Mile cinema, with some church lobby dishing out protest leaflets. Music album was great too.

Memorable, as this was like a movie prism of biblical story

My choice got to be 12 Angry Men starring Henry Fonda. It was considered by some to be one of the best pictures ever made. Almost the entire movie was shot inside the 'jury room'. Full of dialogue the movie is absorbing, tense and very entertaining.

The sequels to Basic Instincts were not as successful compared to the original. Basic however reminds me of an even earlier film produced in the early 70s - Don't Look Now fronted by Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland, both major artists. In a torrid sex scene. not only did Christie showed off her hairy 3 points, Sutherland also flaunted his maleness in full frontal glory. For a mainstream movie, that was quite unforgettable for that era.

Another movie, shot in Black and White, is "To kill a Mocking Bird" with a strong racial theme but surprisingly also suitable for children. Gregory Peck at his best. A really great film.

Another great film also with a racial (and political) theme is Ryan's Daughter. It had one of movie world's great musical theme and a romantic plot between Ryan's daughter and the decrepit military officer that only British story writers knew how to do properly.

My favorite is An Officer And A Gentleman. The original theme song Up Where We Belong is unforgettable too. Unchained Melody in Ghost and Pretty Woman in Pretty Woman were not original songs written for the respective movies; those were borrowed from oldies. I also like Forrest Gump. The opening-cum-closing scene at the bus stop somehow always makes me reminisce my first day arriving in US at the airport bus stop, trying to figure out which bus to take to the campus. The use of another old song Against The Wind in the scene of the cross country run was also an excellent choice and match.
