Thaipusam used to be a public holiday. How come it got scraped?

Sinkapore should adopt Europe's vacation policy ....eight weeks of vacation will make sinkees very happy.
 
every nationality, ethnicity, race and religion should have 3.69 holidays. burmese, thai, bangla, pinoy, etc.
 
Hari raya Haji is a pblic holiday in Singapore. It is too significant to Islam to be removed.

That change happened later for obvious reasons. However when Thaipusam was removed from the public holiday list so was Hari Raya Haji.

I believe that Hari Raya (eid al fitir) and Hari Raya Haji (eid al ahda) are public holidays in Singapore

It is now but it was removed when Thaipusam was cancelled. This was way back in the early 60s.
