U are absolutely right, according to the MAS's own inflation calculator, the $150 billion in 1997 would have been $201.62 billion today, just due to inflation. I suspect this number is really closer to $250 billion as MAS always understates inflation. But lets say for argument's sake that we use their number, then the real actual growth in GDP from 1997 to 2015 is $350 billion minus $201.62 = $148.385 billion. To achieve this extra $148.385 billion, the PAP had to add an additional 43-15= 28 cabinet members. An increment of 28 cabinet members added $148.385 billion to the GDP for an average of only $5.3 billion per cabinet member per GDP. I would say this is a sharp decline in productivity among the cabinet members instead of an increase as Sam claims.

There are only 20 ministers in cabinet you twit. I know more about the PAP than you do even though I'm thousands of Km away in sheep land.

You are absolutely correct.

PAP wants to increase revenue, just increase petrol tax from 45c per litre to 70c per litre.
PAP wants more money, just increase GST from 5% to 7%
PAP needs money, just implement ERP
PAP wants more money, increase rentals


PAP doesnt care how the increases affect Singaporeans.

Individual increase may look insignificant.

But the collective increases cause business costs to go up, making SG not competitive and cost of living to go up for Singaporeans.

PAP's think that their method of increasing levies and taxes is flawless and bring in money for the pap. But in the process, such mindless greed kill SG.

If you calculate the GDP per minister you'll see just what a wonderful job the PAP has done to increase the productivity of the cabinet many times over.

This proves that the PAP is capable of growing the economy without having to grow the size of the cabinet.

Singapore is a sinking ship under LHL and the pap. They are using laws to tax and overtax Singaporeans, levies on top of taxes and surcharges.

The pap doesnt know how to create wealth to make life better for Singaporeans.

The pap only knows how to build shopping malls, condos. These will result in transfer of wealth from Singaporean owners to builders. This does not create wealth and generate foreign exchange earnings.

More shopping malls and more condos do not make life better for Singaporeans.

To make life better, Singapore must produce high quality goods and services that can earn foreign money for SG. But pap cant do that because it has made SG prohibitively expensive and also a low productivity economy with its import of cheap unskilled and unqualified foreigners.

During LKY's era, PAP created Jurong and other industrial parks to manufacture goods and semi conductors and sell them to USA, Europe and Japan. That helped us earn foreign exchange and helped SG grew at 6 to 10% per annum.

The present pap seeks to attract many cheap foreign labourers and makes money by imposing workers' levies. That's a disastrous way to boost GDP and SG is facing the effects of pap's mismanagement. To the pap, the more cheap foreign labourers the better.

How unwise is LHL and the current pap

The government is not up to the job. They are now trying to impress us with buzzwords .. " disruption". With all the money made by the government , Singapore should be a serene and thriving small city. We should have invested outside Singapore employing their local people over there , without creating high prices, congestion and job displacement in Singapore. Just keep high end services here. If Singapore is not for Singaporeans, everything is meaningless .

Many grassroot leaders and PA staff take advantage of such generously sponsored overseas trips. But heavens got eyes and Michael Palmer and Laura Ong got into trouble.

Everyone knows that it is wrong for the PAP to allocate so much tax payers' money to PA for them to squander and reward pap's cronies. But does PAP care? They say it is leegally budgeted and approved. That's how morally corrupt the pap is.

The sad thing is despite what you have listed out should be true, and most people will agree to it and start to question. But when comes to election time, all these are likely not taken into account.
A common decision factor, as far as I know and heard, is that they continue to vote for pap to keep their job and home. We cannot deny the fact that even unemployment rate is high, majority of sinkies are still employed. So end of the day it is still back to square.
