Limbang estate was built around the mid-90s. Many residents who bought their flats then are now in their 50s and 60s. But we continue to have a steady stream of new residents moving into the estate.
Happy to see a number of them in my first house visit of 2024 and to welcome them and their children! Our Limbang
are longstanding friends and close partners.
Happy to meet Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand this morning. I last met Princess Sirindhorn during her visit to the Asian Civilisations Museum in 2013.
During our meeting, we discussed the warm and substantial relations between Singapore and Thailand, as well as our collaboration in emerging areas like cybersecurity and the digital economy. Initiatives such as the depository receipt linkage between the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), and the PayNow-PromptPay cross-border fast payment system are bringing our businesses and peoples closer together.
Hope that Princess Sirindhorn has a productive visit in Singapore, and I look forward to meeting her again!

Singapore has a warm and longstanding friendship with Jordan.
Glad to meet with the Crown Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II of Jordan this evening. He shared about his priorities for the economy and education, and we discussed ways to improve the quality of life for our citizens and provide more opportunities for the next generation.
Looking forward to greater bilateral cooperation
Kolams hold a special place in Pongal celebrations, symbolising prosperity and happiness.
I tried my hand at creating a colourful one for the first time. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely fun!
Wishing all those celebrating a joyful and prosperous Pongal. May your homes be filled with happiness and abundance.

My comments at the doorstop today following the charges against Mr Iswaran. We are saddened and disappointed by what has happened. I’ve seen some of the initial online reactions. Some think the sums involved are not large. Indeed in other countries, this may not be considered corruption. But that’s not the case in Singapore.
The PAP and this government take a much stricter approach. Our zero-tolerance stance on corruption is non-negotiable.
We are determined to keep our system corruption-free. We will not flinch from doing the right thing, and upholding the highest standards of integrity and incorruptibility.
If you are preparing ang pows, why not try giving “Fit-for-Gifting” notes. These are used currency notes that are generally clean and suitable for recirculation, including for festive gifting.
Going the extra-mile? You can also use e-ang pows instead of the physical red packets.
Give it a try – contribute to our greener future by choosing these eco-friendlier options while preserving our traditions.

share a longstanding relationship that is both broad and deep. We took stock of our robust ties, and discussed collaboration in new areas such as critical and emerging technologies, as well as our shared commitment to upholding the multilateral rules-based order. I wish the CODEL a good visit in Singapore and a fruitful tour of the region.

Keeping our economy competitive and vibrant is at the forefront of our priorities. Gan Kim Yong and I spoke with several industry leaders yesterday.
This is an important process to get feedback and understand what businesses are going through. We value your views and we are with you on this journey of restructuring and transformation.
I thank everyone for sharing your perspectives — we will carefully consider them as we prepare for #SGBudget2024. Singapore Business Federation

The peace that we have in our multi-religious society does not happen by chance.
Constant care and hard work are needed to preserve the harmony between our different communities — and we must never assume that we have arrived or the work is done.
Besides the government, generations of leaders from the Inter-Religious Organisation, Singapore have also played an important part in promoting interfaith understanding, and strengthening our bonds.
And as Singapore embarks on its next phase of nation-building, I have no doubt the IRO's work will be more important than ever.

Saddened by the passing of Dr. Wee Cho Yaw, Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Adviser of UOB. His transformative leadership made UOB a regional banking powerhouse.
His vision and ethical standards set a lasting industry benchmark, and his contributions to our financial centre and much more, will be remembered. Our condolences to his family and the UOB community.
