There is a Indonesian School along Sigalp Road (diagonally across from Mandarin Gardens) for quite a while now. So not surprising to see Indons around. Siglap is the new Holland V so quite normal to find a cosmopolitan crowd in Siglap, especially around the cafes and restaurants row around Siglap Centre

There's this old shop owned by an elderly Chinese Uncle.. The shop located just besides Siglap Police Post, sells rattan and plastic chairs and other small furnitures.. Wonder if that shop has been around for sometime?

Moving slightly up Siglap to Bedok South. Here is a photo of Temasek JC when it was first build in 1976. Notice the empty land to the right and back of the track. Now its all Condos.

sorry bro, gotta correct u. me also grow up in the east. on the right of the track across the rd is the small industrial park. its bedok south ave 1. on the back is where the bayshore park is. this pic i believe is taken at around blk 19 bedok south rd. :D used to go there and play, those seats in the pic all built by wooden planks!!! and when running on top of it gotta look out for missing planks!!! got big angsana trees behind the seat too. across this is the blk 16 market and hawker centre.

woo mon chew rd actually now still a very peaceful neighbourhood. when go deeper in still got some shop houses with restaurants like those in greenwood at bukit timah.

u can see the big malay cemetery when u go along siglap rd from east coast. when you reaching cheviot hill, look to your right if im not wrong. :P

Yes. Before Flamingo Valley.

How about Opera Estate, Fidelio St and Frankel Ave. Still mainly chinese dominated.

The old Opera Estate consist of Fidelio Street, Maria Ave, Jln Talan Bulang, Swan Lake, Aida Street, Taman Siglap.

Talking about Opera Estate, a relative of mine, who's an Opera Estate property agent cum specialist, told me of a very sordid murder of a housewife at 32, Maria Avenue, which made the news. She was murdered with multiple knife-wounds and one shafted through her mouth and another shafted through her pussy, among other wounds. The suspect went for the funeral and was caught. It is believed the suspect was her lover, even though she was married. It's all in the morning and evening news, I was told.

Was told that family sells pork in the Chai Chee market and one of the sons claim to be a government man, who was chased all the way home by someone riding on a motor-bike, and asked to come out of the house to settle, but the son cowardly hide inside the house and dare not come out, except let the mother calm down the motor-cyclist, who fucked the son at the top of his voice, saying something like "zheng-hu lan, ang-chua? chu-lai. Wah ai pak le!!" [government man, so what? Come out. I want to beat you]. The son dared not come out, but hide in the house. The whole nearby neighbourhood knew of the commotion, since everyone was rather weary after the murder.

.

Now that you mention it....I think it must have been in 1980s period. I don't remember the house number but it was a house near to the back staircase of the old CHIJ Opera Estate Convent. It made big news around the Estate as generally Opera Estate is a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood.

Skadiang does not sound very Eurasian, at least not to me. Have not met anyone with this family name.
