Sam Leong's band of brothers - cyclists

And the biggest whiner.

But I don't think he will be green in Paris. Sagan will show his true colours soon.

All sprinters are nothing more than wheel suckers. They can only win on pan flat stages throw in one or two decent lumps and they shoot out the back.

Even on flat stages they don't have a hope in hell of winning anything unless they wheel suck for 199.85 kms of a 200 km stage.

Why they are given any credit whatsoever is beyond me. If they fancy themselves as quick over short distances they should prove it on the velodrome.

The annual pharma carnival is back.
That a human can pedal more than 200W and hold it over 4 hours is just biologically insane.

Are wheel suckers also the ones who tend to hit the wheels of the rider in front and cause mass crashes?

200W is easily achievable without pharma help.

I can do 200W for an hour despite my age. I'm sure a 25 year old can easily put in the same effort for an extra 3 hours.

At least Mario Cipollini was fun to watch

That can happen to any cyclist in the course of a stage but if it happens in the last 500m it definitely is a wheel sucker.

Van der Poel was over a 1000 w when he sprinted up that hill in one of the classics.

So why not have rules that state that riders cannot be too close to one another. And the onus is on the rider behind the front one?

Drafting the one in front of you is the very essence of road racing. Without the drafting effect a bike race would be like a running race ie just keep running till everyone else drops away.

From what i have read, being in front is a disadvantage. Front rider does more work while the wheel sucker behind benefits and conserves energy for the final sprint.

I dont watch cycling but i can imagine riders trying NOT to be the leading rider until the right moment?

Chess game. You are right.

But does this oh i dowan to be front so i slow a but then the wheel sucker goes oops you brake oops and hits the front rider......

Like tailgating and playing jam braking.....?

Hard to achieve on a stationary trainer. You need a power meter on your bike plus it's easier to achieve in a tail wind.
I do have a power meter on my SRAM. Mount Faber is where I do my climb drills :whistling:

Spot on nobody wants to ride in the front but if they are out front they don't want anyone sitting in their draft.

If a rider is leading the race and is being chased and the chasing group consists of teams of riders he will almost definitely be caught because team members take turns to chase and in a situation where it is team vs solo rider a team will win 9 out of 10 times.

However if there are no teams chasing only individual contenders for the win then he has a chance of winning even if there is someone stronger chasing from behind because the strongest rider is not going to chase with other contenders sitting on his wheel. This is why timing is everything and the strongest rider often does not win the race.

The best chance you have of reaching 1000W is not on a long steep climb but on a short, sharp rise 3% to 4% gradient.

Road cycling is a team tactical sport. In a 3 hour race you can see strategies emerge, alliance struck, politics played, and sometimes even betrayal. Le Tour is the most brutal yet beautiful annual sporting event in the world. I invite you to ignore the ignoramuses here to discover for yourself.
