Will bus service 666 travel on the highway to hell? That quip was among online responses to the new service, which sports a number linked to the devil in Christianity.

The new service runs from Punggol to the city and starts operating next Monday. It was among five new City Direct Services announced on Monday by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The others are service 667, serving Clementi and Dover; 668, serving Ang Mo Kio; 669, serving Bedok; and 670, serving Yishun.

The LTA's Facebook post introducing service 666 drew about 90 comments as of yesterday evening.

Most were amused and joked about the association with Satan. Facebook user Sivaraj Pragasm quipped: "(I) always suspected Satan was living in Punggol."

But others were serious and concerned it could be insensitive to Christians. "Couldn't you guys have chosen another number? This is so insensitive," commented Mr James Poon on LTA's Facebook post.

"Singapore being a multiracial and multireligious society, our government services should put more thought into such details," Mr Poon, a 30-year-old Christian who is self-employed, told The Straits Times. LTA declined to comment.

City Direct Services connect the heartland with the Central Business District and run on weekdays during morning and evening peak periods, excluding public holidays.

If you choose number 444, the Chinese will say must be sensitive to their feeling. If choose 888, Chinese very happy, but don't know other races or religions feel offended or not. Like that LTA how to work? How to check all?

Chey. I think it is a great idea to have 666 and remind Christians that the devil do live among us; just like gays and lesbians. Sticking your head in the ground is not going to make them go away.

If we beat them up and frighten the rest of the gays away, they will go away. Then we would be able to usher in an age of near-utopia. Utopia can only be achieve once we cleanse the nation of the remaining 30% opposition cocksuckers. They either submit peacefully, or be made to feel our boot on their necks for their insolence.

Wha about bus 13? 13 is bad number for xtians too no? How about 4? Very inauspicious for chinks too. Change.

As Long as the number is not written on the forehead of the bus driver, it is safe to ride in the bus.

They should be more concern whether bus fares will increase rather than bus numbers.

Haha last time sinkies laugh at JB matland for skipping license plate series JEW.....
Now sinkies are also the same.....haha religious sensitivity game is good to play on morons who live their lives based on some numbers

They should be more concern whether bus fares will increase rather than bus numbers.

A good Christian would worry more about the bus number. Riding in a bus with the number 666 is a sure way to go to hell.

Religious retarded people are fucking retards. They are always stupidly prioritising the wrong concerns. That's how stupid they are.

if a true christian holds that belief, he is better off going to hell NOW. Numbers have no significance other than those in your bank accounts.

Religious people are fucking retards. They are always stupidly prioritising the wrong concerns.

Religious people have principles and dare to stand up to evil. That's why Singapore will be great again.
