Whoever did away with everything that I liked about Malacca. While Singapore has got better and better with age, Malacca has gone in the other direction.
Malaysia is number one in songlap business.

Liow told to revive Melaka airport
Zefry Dahalan | July 3, 2014
The new Minister of Transport has been told to show the people his expertise and turn the 'white elephant' into a profitable revenue operation.
Melaka: Melaka DAP today challenged the new Minister of Transport Liow Tiong Lai to revive the ‘dead’ Melaka International Airport.
Ayer Keroh state assemblymen, Khoo Poay Tiong said that this should be Liow’s first test as the transport minister.
“MCA leaders especially Liow had said that they want to serve the people and the government. MCA’s wish has been granted and its president is now the Minister of Transport.
“Since our new (Melaka) Chief Minister Idris Haron has failed to turn the Melaka International Airport into a revenue generating airport and the airport has not seen a commercial flight since March 15 this year, I challenge Liow to show us his expertise and capabilities by reviving the Melaka International Airport.”
“I hope Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak gives Liow this assignment (turn the Melaka International Airport into a profitable airport), so we can assess his performance as the Minister of Transport.
“Another reason for my challenge to Liow is because although he is the Bentong MP in Pahang, he was actually born in Melaka.
“As a ‘Melaka born’ he should have the extra courage to help his home state,” said Khoo.
Khoo added that the Barisan Nasional government always criticised the PAS administered Kelantan state as ‘mundur’ (not developed) but the Kota Bahru Airport has 16 commercial flights daily.
“Melaka, the so called ‘negeri maju’ (developed state) has zero commercial flights,” he said.
Yesterday FMT reported Khoo saying that despite the Melaka state government having “spent RM240 million to upgrade the airport and extend the runway, yet the airport has not seen a commercial flight take off since March 15”.
“This is just another state government ‘white elephant’,” said Khoo.
The Melaka International Airport was officiated by Najib in 2010.
