Congratulations! Keep up the pressure LOL. Dunno why the sales people I deal with all no bother to contact me especially on any weekday after 3pm, seems like either no sales target to meet, or target very easy to meet.

We were also joking that maybe it is because we just bought 2 lime plants but last year never buy, so last year he no luck....then he say, he want orange plant!

Pomelo is bigger :)

Time for a family trip to Bidor, Ipoh.

Never seen Pomelo plant before...is it supposed to bring good luck? Only available in Ipoh?

Yes. Old folklore uses the leaves for shower just like flower bath. Beliefs to ward off bad luck.
Bidor is famous for Guava and Pomelo. You can visit farms there.

When I am down and out, I will try anything :)

By the way, it is meant to be a joke as it is much bigger than orange. :D

Don't worry. Singapore is not going to become that bad in future. Since you have a respectable career, why not find out how you can maybe migrate to countries like the US, UK or Australia? Your kids can also have good education next time. To me, those are the places for retirement... not JB! Sorry, just my frank opinion.

I must assume that you had not lived in Australia before to state that retiring in Australia is better than in JB. I am an Australian and choose to retire in Nusajaya, Johor for a year now and enjoy it everyday.

Ouch!

I choose to live in JB because no other place to live and yet still earn SG income.

Australia, US and UK are expensive places to retire in with much higher cost of living than Malaysia...

Yes Ozrick,

U hit the nail on it's head… Bingo!!!

LOL
Cheers!

Congrats freedom! Keep the faith in your hubby. As tough as it may be, only the spouse can give the other half the most encouragement. I agree with what a few folks here say about your career being more stable than most but guess you have chosen your path. Home schooling also on the cards for my kids. Chinese classes + Shichida is what my boy goes for now, plus exposure in other areas. My spouse and i have been through the SG education system and we know it won't work for our kids.

I do not know about US but London can only serve as holiday home and not for retirement.
I still prefer my Bak Kut Teh and Nasi lemak. :)

Just an update:
The sale has been completed and the money is in oready! Yes, it was soon-soon-li-li.
Thank you all, esp Tekkun, who help to guide me along during the sale process.

Thanks for yr reply, it's better late than never reply, hahaha! The past few days days, other threads like PH and 1 or 2 other threads were on the top charts, debating fiercely from different points of views amongst all types of investors. Very active forumers at work!

Ok, just an update, have signed the SPA. Of the 10% received, I have contributed 65% of it to the M'sian economy: legal fees, LDHN, agent's commission. I must say if there is money to shared, people very fast hand and fast leg come to take their share. Agent commission also paid at this stage. So if you want to sell your house, pls check their terms first. For my case, I insist that they include extra clause to be fully responsible until full completion. Agents and lawyers always tell you all are standard clauses, to make their job easier I guess, but you can still change abit here and there if you argue your points right. I expect to see the bal 90% to come in in 3mths time.

I think it's better to use Tekkun's agent and lawyer, somehow he has re-trained them to better suit one's needs. If you don't mind hor?

Different strokes for different folks but there are hell lot more PRCs and other Asians heading to Oz then JB.

Congrats. It is a nice angpau for the CNY.
Not easy to sell these days during property downturn.
Kong Hee Fatt Choy.

Actually, I know of many doctors who bought there...2 friends I know personally, a GP in Bestari Heights and a surgeon in Horizon Hills and some other Doctors whom I do not know personally have retired there....

My extended family is in Malaysia and it is near to Sg where I can return to work....do not think I can nor want to work in other countries for other reasons I have not mentioned. Anyway, I am not a specialist earning big bucks so unlike specialist couples I cannot keep up with the rat race here....

Oh i see....

Retired maybe ok. But for those still currently actively working I don't think it's attractive to them. Maybe it's the travelling and all that that put them off.

I joked with my doctor friend a few months ago when it opened. Hey, there's a new Gleneagles in Medini. Considering moving there? He didn't even know there is one and gave me the "Who would want to go there" look. The salary in SG is too good.

It's always the jam that puts people off. Once that is solved or drastically reduced and sustained, I am pretty sure many more Singaporeans will get off the fence and move over.

As a long time JB resident, I'm a believer that the peak hour jam will NEVER be smooth. By the simple logic of imbalance. Also people assume that the volume of commuters is a constant.

The smoother it is, the more people will travel, the more people travel, the more jam it gets. Until there's an equilibrium between both sides, which let's face will likely never happen.
