Every Hari Raya Puasa, he will cook pots of Briyani for residents of Punggol East. Today, he invited MP Faisal and myself to Prophet Muhammad's birthday celebration. As one walk towards the MPH, you can find signage that show you where the event is held and everyone is welcome to join. He prepared a generous serving for close to 3000 people!
May blessings of love, peace and prosperity be with Mr Jani and his family.

Was doing my estate walk last night and at the same time helping some residents to demarcate some gardening space. The residents were concerned because the gardening space they wanted is close to these yellow stone markers. You usually see these stone markers in newer estates and they are a common sight in PE.
Do you know what are the purpose of these yellow stone markers
Was at the estate this evening doing my regular walkabout. Took the opportunity to visit the market at Rivervale Plaza. I liked the atmosphere there and while it is not as huge as Chinatown, most of the CNY festive goods can be found there. Like many residents, we did our fair share of purchases and returned home with our hands full

Wow! Look at these festive CNY decorations put up by the neighbors from Blk 119C Rivervale Drive (Punggol East)! They even penned a poem that goes with the celebrations
Tears always well up in my eyes when I watch their yearly CNY ads. This year, this ad reminds us all to celebrate Chinese New Year today, with the same zest that we did when we were young, no matter how old we may be.
MP Lee Li Lian invites you to join her to toss for health and prosperity at the BIGGEST ever yusheng lo hei in Punggol East. Good neighbours, extend the invitation to your Chinese and non-Chinese neighbours to make this a multicultural event. Parents, bring your children to learn about our yusheng heritage. Come share the joy with Li Lian!

The 10th day of the Lunar New Year is an occasion for the spread of goodwill and cheer through well wishes of prosperity and good health. That is exactly what MP Lee Li Lian set out to do on Sunday morning in Punggol East. Appropriately decked in red, Li Lian visited shopkeepers and residents in Rivervale Plaza as well as a coffeeshop at Block 182 near Rivervale Delta, handing out pairs of oranges to them as a form of ‘bài nián’ (拜年). Along with volunteers from the PECC who traded our usual blue t-shirts to auspicious red ones in the spirit of the New Year, Li Lian also invited residents to the upcoming inaugural PE Chinese New Year Dinner as well as other events such as the Lo Hei event and Kuantan Durian trip that PECC will be organising with much anticipation. We hope that 2014 will be a year full of joy, luck and good tidings for all residents and local businesses in Punggol East!
