Pre-School is monopolise?

The pre-school is still ok... Worst is the next stage - Primary school.
Planning to enrol my kid to Hong Wen which is 300m away from my house... Heard that need to do volunteer job even is within 1km...

Better still, got relatives suggested to joining the Hokkien's "Hui Guang" in order to have confirm place....

I can empathise with you, I just got my first born into P1. My suggestion is to study the past year's statistic to evaluate for the easiest way in.

I am not sure about Hong Wen, I heard a story from Tao Nan. There is even balloting for volunteering. There were only 30 positions and 200 applications. So balloting was needed, my friend was the last to get in, guard traffic for 44 hours. Then when it came to phase 2B, it is again balloting for 30 places, this time the volunteers competed with Hui Guang AND Grass Root. Again my friend's son was the last to be picked.

For many popular schools, there is no guaranttee even when you fulfill your part of the bargain. The worst this year is Cathalic High School, there were only 9 vacancies for both 2B and 2C respectively. 2B alone have 40 over applications.

Heard about the " forced volunteer system" but thought it was only to get into the brand name schools if you have no ties like being an old boy/girl:confused:

I also notice most of "affiliated school" are also religion one. Is MOE get chope by some religion sect or the MOE not enough money to build secular schools?

5. Teddy-bear, teddy-bear (the skipping rope thingy)
6. Flattening soft drink bottle tops, sharpen disc edges and punch two holes, attach string and pull and rotate to "fight" and try to cut your friend's disc.

Many of us made skipping rope by connecting rubber bands together,

Flattened the bottle tops & cutting them into home made throwing stars

Innocent & cheap pastimes :)

My partner already fill up the volunteer form.... take note... my boy is only 3yrs and 8 month old.... Planning something in 2 year advance...

According to the guideline, you need to perform 40hrs within 2 years... and you cant choose the task... school will assign...:(

Just to confirm with you, Hong Wen is in Kallang area? I suggest you opt to volunteer at school. Base on statistic for 2010, there are only 64% of vacancy applied for phase 2B, it means that if there is 100 places allocated, only 64 applicant, the chance of success is very high steel. Phase 2C on the other hand, has 115% application, which means if there is 100 places, 115 applied, balloting required.

I have another friend who chose 2C for the school of her choice, she lived less than 100m from the school and her daughter failed to enter due to balloting.

Curious as to how the foreigners qualify for spaces in the schools, do they also have to volunteer their time

This rule like not fair. If MOE close down your last time primary school, then how you "old boy old girl"? MOE also never assign new school to the people the old school kena close by MOE without our consent right?

You die your biz again.

If you want to talk about unfairness, just look at how they got rid of the unwanted schools like Swiss Cottage, Whitely, Anderson & Dunman from the Bukit Timah area. Coincidentally this is the area where most of our MPs are living:rolleyes:

They moved MGS to where Swiss Cottage used to be. Anderson made way for the expansion of Raffles Girls School.

Coincidence:confused: Not likely in Spore where everything is planned.

This is getting very dark. How can they do this so blatantly? So disturbing!

The problem is that my daughter is in P1 and I am still paying.......:(

almost the same.... the payback time is years to come....:p
Seriously... a typical KS parents will need to plan ahead for their next gen as the cost of living is going to kill...

How I know?? Just need to read the threads in here... you will get the latest update:D

What to do Sporeans let them get away with it.:(

One of the reasons quitters give for leaving Spore is that they are doing it for their children.

Don't listen to those who tell you that Spore is "good" & you can emigrate when you retire. By then it'll be too late for you & your kids.

Dont foget dunearn tech (now national JC i think ) too. All these moves were spread over several years, maybe to make to look less obvious, but we're not stupid!

Yes it was Dunearn and not Dunman. Did you know that C.Kunalan THE athlete used to be a teacher at Dunearn

I went on to a methodist school. Every monday the non-christians students could choose to stay in the classroom while chapel was held in the auditorium./QUOTE]
