The question asked was "Is the M16 very different from the old AR-15". The old AR-15 as issued to the SAF in the 70s and early 80s HAS NO FORWARD ASSIST. Unlike you, I actually know this. And how do I know this? Because I was in the SAF long enough to be issued this weapon, plus the SAR-80 after that, Plus the CAR-15 in between for specialist units, plus M16S1. I am a laucheow now, but my memory is still fine. The new AR-15 as sold in the civilian market in the US has the forward assist. But the question is not about the newer AR-15. When you have been proved wrong, just shut up and go into a corner. Instead, you just make yourself lose more credibility with each post.

saf or no saf, the older version of the m-16 also had no forward assist as it was based on the civilian equivalent ar-15 then. so what’s your point? the forward assist feature did not and does not differentiate the 2 versions. the main difference is that the m-16 is built and tested with mil-specs based on rfp requirements by the pentagon and thus cost more. this whole debate only makes you look more ignorant and stupid.

he's still stuck in saf shithole groupthink. i was also like that until i cum to u.s. and kena schooled by experts at the ranges. they showed me m-16's from vietnam era without forward assist and later versions with forward assist. and then the (civilian) ar-15 with forward assist. wow! i said to them. "that's an m-16!" "nope." they said. "it's an ar-15." then my eyes opened. saf junkies have been duped for too long.

live firing is only confined to the range for responsible gun owners. it’s very strict at the county range. one mistake such as pointing gun wrong way and they revoke your pass.

in texas you still need a license for open carry unlike permissive open carry in 26 other states and permissive open carry with restrictions in 6 states. in californicate, you can open carry in rural counties that permit it. the open carry jurisdiction here is termed as anomalous. you can also open carry in rural areas if you have filed a report with the local sheriff that your life is in constant danger either from cougars and bears or mexican drug cartels illegally growing marijuana.

there are only 2 in sf. natural point of aim is indoors and certified firearms instruction and training has both indoor and outdoor ranges. i do my firing at the outdoor range in field sports park in south san jose.

Donch bother lah. Any range that Eatshit recommend to you is the one that you should avoid. Eatshit probably goes to one of those ranges that are no more then 50m long, and everyone brings their long gun with a 5X scope and think they are hot shit when they can shoot in the bullseye. To paraphrase my instructor at SOA, "Even an Arab can hit something at that range". Ask him to recommend a 300 yard range, take the scope off the rifle and hit the target with the iron sights. That's a real man shooting. Be a man.
